"Don't be hasty now. You should know a trick when you see one."

There was a stillness as his words echoed in the stale air. You clenched your hands and stared forward, body shaking with nerves and fury. Even after freeing this.. this lunatic, he used a ploy to set you up. The figure behind you was slightly obscured in shadow, nothing but the reflection of a gray robe reflecting off the prison bars and the sound of his voice giving away his presence. Slightly tripping over your feet while turning in the stranger's direction, your breath caught when you realized who he was.

The figure from before, you realized! When you first opened the window and hid in the chest.. he was the one opening the chests.

You didn't think that he would recognize you. After all, he had been called out before getting the chance to fully open your chest. But instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a wooden axe - the one you'd left in the chest, which was what you were looking for to attack with when the creeper showed up. Instead of picking up the axe, you'd picked up an amulet. An amulet that was becoming a sort of comfort for you. It felt heavy in your cloak pocket as you reached down to stroke it gently, the action calming you.

"You have something of ours," he stated. "And I have something of yours. Granted, the historic, almighty amulet is far more valuable and this trade makes a fool out of you. But perhaps I'll add something more to the table to make the offer more.. appealing."

As he spoke, you leaned down to Clara and whispered to her. "Clara, run. Find the front door, hide a little if you have to, just leave. I.. I never should've taken you back in here. Please, Clara. Go."

After Clara gave you a last worried look before scampering off, he leaned closer to you as you subconsciously leaned further back into the prison bars. These bars were separating you from a quietly snickering Tristan. He took a dramatic pause before continuing with his words. "I'll add your life to the bargain," he said simply.

You stayed quiet. It wasn't a fair fight and all three of you knew it. But he just sighed at your silence and held his hand out and shook his head, as if he were explaining a concept again and again to a toddler.

"Give me the amulet and in return, you will get to live. And this wooden axe if you're so desperate. Not that it would be of much use in a fight," he looked amusedly between your previously useless weapon, made with the most generic material - wood - and worn down over days of use, and his own iron axe, gleaming brand new in the subtle light given off from the flickering torches.

At this point, behind you, Tristan was laughing manically. Instead of feeling the fear you'd expect, you felt your irritation rise. You were stuck in a room with a conniving creep and a sadistic egoist, and you weren't any closer to finding your friends. The word "family" played around in your head a bit, but you disregarded it for now, understanding that more important things were at stake. You had to get to them. You had to get them out of there safely. You had to leave the mansion with them and not return. Most importantly, you had to figure out what was going on with Eilliam. And clearly, none of that was going to happen here.

"Deal."

"Pleasure doing business." He held out his hand for the amulet, his eyes boring into yours, an air of arrogance surrounding him. Seeing you stand still, he sighed again and held his hand out for a handshake. "Anytime you're ready, can't say I have the whole day, but the longer I'm forced to wait, the more excited Fiore gets. And trust me, you don't want Fiore to get too excited."

"Fiore.. hehehe.. the mightiest weapon. Owned by the mightiest fool!" Tristan cackled.

The word Fiore ran through your head as Icarus gave Tristan a rude side eye and hit his iron axe against a bar of Tristan's cell, the blade narrowly missing the still cackling man. "Shut up, you incompetent fool!" Icarus's sharp blues eyes pieced back to you. "Hand it over or die. I'm losing patience."
