"You're a pain my ass, Steve," I muttered angrily as I paced the hallway up and down. I had wandered the halls and took a few staircases without being noticed. It was a nice isolation from anybody finding me and isolation is what I did best when I was upset or angry with my brother for instance.
"Why would I just announce that I lost my baby over seventy years ago? It isn't exactly a happy memory," I wiggled my fingers in front of me watching the purple light move among them. I stopped in my path with my back tense as I felt an individual's presence behind me.
"That indeed is something you'd keep to yourself," the german accent had triggered my fight or flight and I snapped around with an angry look on my face. The person across from gave me a small smile as he held his hands in front of him with a pile of files in hand. He reached up and pushed his glasses up his nose. "Miss Rogers, is it?"
"Who's asking?" I narrowed my eyes.
"I'm the evaluator for you and Mr. Barnes. I would like to evaluate you both together."
"Wouldn't that compromise your evaluation?" I raised a brow curiously. That can't be what Ross wants, I would have already been down with Bucky if that was the case.
"Miss Rogers, frankly I don't agree with what everyone has assume of you and Mr. Barnes," he took a step closer as I took a step back.
"The kidnapping?"
"Correct," The evaluator gave a simple nod. "I know your past as a couple, Miss Rogers. Planning a happy marriage, starting a family, even tortured as a couple," he had a small smile on his face that was almost a smirk. "Maybe you influenced him for the bombing. Considering what he did," he gave a glance at my stomach then back to my eyes.
"My fiancée did not kill my baby at his own will," I crossed my arms over my chest as I felt my blood boiling at the implications this evaluator was making. "In fact, I would love to join in on your session with Bucky," I pushed past him heading to the room hearing his footsteps behind me. I walked to the door not seeing anyone standing guard. I looked up expecting the door to open automatically but nothing happened.
"Miss Rogers, I have a badge," the evaluator pushed passed me showing his badge to the security scanner. I huffed as I heard the door click open and it slid a part revealing Bucky's pod behind a table with a chair. Bucky's eyes adverted to the open door and saw me and the evaluator walk into the room.
"Lizzie?" he perked up moving his eyes between us.
"Hello, Mr. Barnes. You know Miss Rogers. I've been sent by the United Nations to evaluate both of you. Miss Rogers, would you like to take a seat?" He looked back at me as he pulled the chair from under the table. I hesitated as I looked between the chair and him. "I insist."
His persistence had began to make me feel uneasy but to prevent from anything going wrong, I sat down and looked forward at Bucky. I saw the worry flash through his eyes from me being out here and him being restrained in there.
"Your first name is James?" the evaluator questioned as he kept his hand on the back of my chair. I had stayed tense as I let a deep breath escape not wanting to move in any wrong way. "And Elizabeth of course," he placed a hand on my shoulder and I closed my eyes softly. I heard a low growl from Bucky at the gesture.
"I'm not here to judge you. I just want to ask you a few questions. Do you know where you are, James?"
Bucky had stayed quiet as he shot death glares at the evaluator.
"On — On second thought, I'll stand," I spoke softly as I tried to get out of the chair but he tightened his grip on my shoulder. I knitted my brows as I looked up at the evaluator, beginning to feel as if this wasn't who it was supposed to be.
