Sofía's POV
It wasn't hard to do what she had asked me. I had been able to do just that two days after I had started practicing transportation spells. But of course, she didn't know that, so it was the oportunity to do it perfectly and show her my abilities. I slightly moved my hand and the apple disappeared and reappeared exactly five centimeters to the left. Hecate approached and with a magical rule, measured that it was correctly done.
"And what seems to be the problem with your transportation spells? I thought you wanted me to teach you how to do it, but you seem perfectly able to perform them." she said.
"I know. It wasn't hard to archieve that. But I... I can't do it with people. Or animals."
"Because of the size?"
"Not... really, I think. I mean, I tried teleporting a wardrobe once, which was like three times bigger than me and it worked. I... I'm a bit afraid I might hurt them.
"Afraid? Of your magic? Well, I guess that's because you are a non-magical. And that proves you don't belong. But we are stuck with you. At least until the Great Wizard figures out why your chant is useless with other people." As she said these words my chest started hurting and my eyes so wanted to fill with tears. I tried to stay strong and put a neutral face, but her words hurt so bad. I didn't completly belong in the non-magical world anymore, and witches didn't want me in theirs either. I guess Hecate realized that it had been too much, so she changed the topic back to where it started. "You can't be afraid of your magic. That is exactly what makes it backfire."
"I know. And I've honestly been trying."
"Then," she made a little mouse appear on the table. "teleport him. Wherever you want, it's not as important where, as how."
I tried to concentrate as much as I could. I even tried imagining it was just the apple. But the little creature was standing there, in its cute little body, terrified of its destiny. And I couldn't help but lose focus all the time. However, Hecate was waiting for me to do something, so I grabbed some courage, tried to forget about my fears and waved my hand to teleport him. Unfortunatly, or fortunatly, nothing happened.
"Well, I guess we'll have to go with something a little bit more extreme." she said, as she walked and grabbed a potion from a shelf. "You seem to care about others. Too much, I would add. Let's see what wins: your fears or heart." All of a sudden, she teleported us to another location, which I didn't know. The place was desertic, only grass and trees could be seen. Out of the blue the grass surrounding Hecate was on fire, making a circle that was only getting closer to her.
"What the f...hell?" I said, about to swear, but remembering she was my teacher and praying she didn't hear my mistake. Fortunatly, she ignored me and drank the potion she had grabbed from the lab.
"That," she started explaining, whilst throwing the bottle to the flames. "was a potion that makes me unable to use my magic for an hour. Obviously, you don't have that long if you don't wish for me to burn to death. Which, if I have to be honest, could be an option for you, given how I treated you recently. But I take that you are not that type of witch." she added, slightly smiling on one side. She called me a witch. I didn't want to raise my hopes up, since she could be saying it just to save herself, but she still did say that. Even so, I couldn't keep my dark thoughts out of my mind, telling me that I wasn't ready, that I wasn't enough. The fire kept crawling near her and I was the only one who could stop that. I tried to remember the spell to put down the fire, so that I didn't have to try teleport he, but then I realized I had only saw the spell on the index of a book I hadn't read yet. I would have to do it, but I just couldn't bear the thought of hurting her...
