The Dreadful Truth

Chapter 20

Me and Michael have been dating for 3 years. He moved into my place a year ago. He and Luke have never been closer, and they spend every day together. He won't stop dying his hair and even convinced me to match his purple. Recently, the guys released their second album, and are thriving. Luke put his song for me on their first album. Today it is the most popular song on that album. We have learned to laugh about that little incident, and never really bring it up unless they talk about it on stage. Luckily for them, they got their first tour. I was asked to come along to design some limited edition merch every month for them as well. Even if I wasn't asked to tour with the boy to work on merch, there's no way I was gonna spend that long without being with Michael. 

Michael and I have never been happier. If all goes to plan, he might even propose soon. I only know this because Calum and Ashton have been acting weird around me lately. They sneak around whenever I'm over and whisper around me, giggling like little boys. They keep looking at me with big smiles. They could never keep a secret for long. 

"What are you two giggling about now?" I said plopping down between the two.

"Nothing, just a stupid video. Hey, need any help in the kitchen, Luke?"

"Sure!!!" Luke yelled back.

We were having our weekly pizza night at my and Michael's place. Michael and Luke had become friends again 2 months after the song fiasco. It was a very long, awkward 2 months at the studio.  Fights constantly starting over who gets the black mug and who gets the white mug, which would escalate to who should have gotten me. I kept apologizing to Luke and he finally accepted and had a talk with Michael. Now here we were, the whole group coming together just like any other Saturday pizza night.

As Calum and Ashton scurried off into the kitchen to help Luke, Michael came out and sat next to me. I grabbed us a blanket and cuddled up against him. I found the remote and turned on youtube. Every pizza night we all get together and try to find the stupidest youtube video. We even have a whole board of our top 10. As the guys in the kitchen fought over who got to cut the pizzas, me and Michael scrolled through trying to find a video.

"Have you seen the one with the kid that fell off of the thing?" Michael said twisting to look at me.

"You're gonna have to be a little more specific, babe," I said with a chuckle.

"Here give me the remote and I'll find it. Do we have any sodas in the fridge?" He said snatching the remote from me.

I got up and started to walk over to the kitchen to look for some sodas for us. As I got to the doorway, I saw Luke, Ashton, and Calum all put on their "act natural" faces. I gave them a confused look and headed over to the fridge. I rummaged around for a little and waited until I could hear the guys stop whisper arguing about something.

"Hey, I didn't see any sodas in the fridge so I'm gonna run to the gas station down the street, what do you guys want?" I said walking over to look at the pizza Luke had been spending so long on.

"I'LL HAVE A ROOT BEER!!" Calum yelled stepping in front of me before I could see the pizza.

"Me and Ash will have a Ciera Mist, why don't you GO ASK MICHAEL IN THE LIVING ROOM WHAT HE WANTS!!!" Luke said walking me out of the kitchen.

"Why are you all yelling!" I asked, "What would you like to drink Mikey?"

"I'll take a Mountain Dew, and why don't you go down and get us ice cream from that nice shop down the road, by the smell and sounds in the kitchen, the pizza is taking longer than planned."

I grabbed my wallet and keys right before I was shoved out the door by Luke. I stood confused in the hall listening to the whisper fight that had just begun behind my door. I walked down to the garage and drove to the gas station and got everyone's drinks. Then, as Michael said, I went down to the ice cream parlor and picked up some mint chip and cookies and cream ice cream.
