EMERSON PULLED HER SUNGLASSES UP WHEN Rick approached her. It was well into the morning, past 10 o'clock at least. Carl was sat beside her eating a plate of eggs as Silas was off plating his own.
"Thought you'd never wake up, Lucky. Get enough sleep?" She smirked.
Rick shook his head and smiled as he took the empty seat next to her, "Think I got enough to last a lifetime."
Silas was quick to walk over to the three of them, slapping Rick on the back as he said, "Man, I thought you'd never wake up. Glad to have you back with us here in civilization."
"Do you two do that often?" Rick raised a brow, "Gang up on everyone?"
"All the time!" Carl exclaimed with a mouth full of eggs. The boy had been itching to play with Sophia all morning. Glenn had brought them back a small Lego set and they were dying to start building it. "Can I go play with Sophia now?"
Emerson and Rick shared a look, "Sure, just stay in my sight, okay?" Emerson told him.
The boy nodded and ran off with a smile.
"So," Rick began, "I was thinkin' about going back."
"Back into a coma?" Emmy asked him. Rick raised his brow at her. He couldn't tell if she was joking. It was hard to understand if her sarcastic and witty comments were just that, or if she was being serious. Though secretly, he hoped one day he'd be able to read her more openly.
"Stop being a fuckin' smartass. She's kidding," Silas shook his head with a laugh, "He means he wants to go back for Merle."
It was Emerson's turn to laugh. "Sorry, I just... Merle Dixon wouldn't give you a glass of water if you were in Hell."
"He's still a human being." Rick responded simply.
Silas didn't have any comment on the matter. Merle had said disgusting things to and about Silas, and since then, he didn't care whether the eldest Dixon was alive or dead.
"I want you two to come with," Rick continued. "Wouldn't you want someone to come back for you? Or go back for your family?"
Silas scoffed loudly, "You heard what he called me. I won't go back for that piece of shit. Emmy can do whatever the hell she wants, just don't expect me to do the same."
