08 | time is a killer
EMERSON WOKE UP TO AN ARM AROUND her waist and a foot near her head. Sitting up slowly, she noticed that she was in between Rick and Carl. Carl, who first started on the couch, seemingly had made his way beside her sometime in the middle of the night. She rubbed her forehead. She wanted to forget the previous nights events.
Her almost kiss with Rick.
The assault... Even seeing Silas and Nathan was a visual she very much wanted to forget.
She gathered herself slowly and made her way out of the room. Walking down the hall felt strange. Emerson felt as if she was a stranger, a ghost even, as she traveled to what was supposed to be her and Silas' shared room. The thin walls carried the snores of the others, making Emerson wonder just how early she had woken up.
As she walked inside to her room, she noticed Silas and Nathan still asleep. With how drunk her little brother got, she figured he might be out for another couple of hours. She was quick to grab her things, just a simple dark wash jeans and a forest green t-shirt. But all she could think about was a hot shower to scrub off Shane's ghost-like hands that roamed her body.
She was filled with regret and shame. Even as she scrubbed her body several times, the guilt of it all never left her body. Her body was wracked with sobs as she couldn't help but think of last night. It was as if she was a young girl again, getting welted in the back with her father's belt for talking out of turn. Or worse, cowering over her little brother in an attempt to protect him from their father.
She finally was able to gather the courage to leave the enclosed walls of the shower once Silas began banging on the door. "Come on, Em! I need to piss!"
Emerson was quick to turn the shower off as she towel dried and changed into her clean clothes. She passed by Silas quick, but he was faster. He immediately noticed her red, puffy eyes.
"Woah, woah... Slow down. What's goin' on?"
"Thought you had to go to the bathroom." She muttered, wiping her eyes once more.
