The world melted away, momentarily a distant blur of distraction, although to me it was like it had never existed in the first place. Just watching Cara's soft lips form smooth, captivating words was enough for me to forget the complicated things like who I was and what I believed in, and also the things that should be less complicated like breathing and staying conscience without fainting. We sat there whilst the stars painted themselves onto the dark blue canvas hovering above our heads. The night drew on and the air became thicker along with the silence as cars and people became fewer and fewer.

"So I guess it will never go back to the way things were before. I'll never be able to walk down the street without someone doing a double take" She laughed lightly before continuing. "But its made me who I am and I've had the most amazing experiences, you couldn't even imagine! So in a way it kind of freed me." She finished and exhaled deeply as if a great weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. "What about you?" She asked looking away and up to the sky.

"It's been different." I looked at my hands as I always did when I was nervous. "I've always known I wanted to be a writer but it wasn't until my first book came out that it hit me that i could never go back." I couldn't see Cara but I could feel the intensity of her stare on me, the energy urging me to keep talking. "Obviously i didn't get the influence or exposure you have but it was enough to make me feel the need to escape, but that only made it worse! The only thing the media love more then creating a celebrity is tearing them down. Luckily my manager is very good at his job." I stumbled over my words and laughed awkwardly but she didn't seem to care. Her blue eyes stayed lingering on me even after i'd finished speaking. I turned to her and smiled prompting her to fill the empty space with anything other then quiet, but she just smiled back at me and then looked at her feet. Her face contorted into a look of confusion, her mind was obviously dwelling on something and it pained me to see her unable to regain her confident assuredness. She stayed like that for minutes; every second felt like its own separate, unbearable life-time. Then she turned to look in my direction her gaze drifting past me to the nothingness beyond me. She bit her lip, her white shining white teeth pulling back her pink bottom lip. She opened her mouth to say something but i heard her breath catch in her throat. she stood up quickly.

"We should probably go." I became tongue-tied so I just stood up slowly trying to understand why she was reserving herself like we were just strangers who hadn't just spent hours talking on a bench in the middle of our isolated perfect haven.

I followed her slowly and carefully back to my apartment, wondering to myself if this was just some screwed up figment of my imagination and any minute I would wake up in my bed breathless and confused. She stopped on the stone steps looking at the door with a blank expression. I shuffled past her and put my key in the door of my building, shaking the it vigorously until the lock un-jammed itself, suddenly realizing how utterly awake I was. I turned around intending to confess that she made me feel more awake then anyone else, that she made me feel more alive then anyone else ever could, but as I faced her she whispered,

"Fuck it" Her lips pressed to mine as an intense heat spread through me, setting fire to my soul, igniting something I thought I had lost long ago. One of my hands roamed her body whilst the other got tangled within her silky blond hair. She was intoxicating me, the space between us, as little as it was, was still too much. I felt her tongue glide across my bottom lip asking for access, my mouth opened further. I could taste her on my lips, feel her on my skin and hear the small passionate moans escape from her mouth. Her hand found its way under my shirt her fingers caressed my skin lightly , tracing circles on the small of my back sending small shivers of anticipation up my spine. I backed up closer to the door, pulling back from Cara taking deep breaths. I could feel a smirk spread across my face, not that she saw it, she was lost in the moment her eyes were closed. I took her delicate hand and pulled her inside and up the stairs, not bothering to wait for the elevator.
