Meanwhile, in a galaxy not so far away…

High, high, high up above the surface of the little blue unsuspecting planet of Earth. Higher still, just above the planet’s atmosphere; locked in tight orbit and busily spinning, blinking, and beeping throughout the void of space. A small satellite ominously begins to stir and rattle breaking the timeless sense of stillness and monotony that had encompassed the entirety of its existence since it’s very inception. As if serving as an automated steward of the passage of time, an unlikely witness to the events that would soon unfold at the behest of it’s creators. Serving as a cold, lifeless child of the living. This solitary audience member to the legacy of the fate of mankind; whether conscious or not, willing or unwilling. Today of all days; this unlikely little watchman of civilization would sound an alarm that no human ears would hear, not unlike a robotic Paul Revere. The voice of the unheard cosmos commenced speaking throughout the machine’s wiring and metallic shell:

Satellite: Beep…..Beep…..Beeeeee-

The satellite begins to emit a melody throughout the emptiness of space; meandering throughout the cosmic backdrop of eerily glimmering starlight, the merciless glow of the sun and…..and….a single light flashes throughout the darkness as if dancing to the rhythmic melody of the song; now blaring from this lonely satellite. It is the foreboding, funky tune of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” wailing among the stars, as the satellite spins and revolves wildly throughout the expanse of nothingness:

BLIP!

A distinctly familiar sound echoes among  the mysterious flash of light which is then accompanied by another….and then another….and another:

BLIP!

BLIP! BLIP!

BLIP! BLIP! BLIP!

Just as the song hits it's stride intermittent flashing lights discharge above earth's higher orbit as strange, monstrous alien creatures phase into existence; floating throughout space and towards the vulnerable little blue planet, aimlessly.

The creatures phase one after another above the planet earth in ever increasing number; slowly forming a formidable hoard, an invading force drifting through the vacuum of space and descending downward upon the Earth’s atmosphere.

The aliens themselves are about ten feet tall; grey, bloated looking, thick leathery skinned,, eight legged creatures that look not unlike fat termite larvae. The legs themselves look like little stubs jutting out of their chubby bodies; the faces of the beasts are expressionless, adorned with large, black,  oval shaped eyes and a kind of "sucker" similar to that of a misshapen elephant’s trunk protruding out of the middle of the creatures faces.

Hundreds upon hundreds of the beings phase into earth's orbit;  one after another; amassing into a large swarm of a chubby invading force.

As the song continues to play; the fat little fleshy blimps float into the earth's atmosphere, kicking their tiny little legs fruitlessly. The abominable beasts catch fire, breaking through the Earth’s atmosphere and descending unto the unsuspecting, defenseless planet below.

From the planet’s surface bewildered onlookers gaze up at the night’s sky to see thousands upon thousands of "shooting stars" illuminating the sky above, raining fire as the creatures break through earth's atmosphere and continue with a beautiful view drifting towards the surface. It is a most ominous event; a spatial anomaly that man has never witnessed before...

As the last of the mysterious creatures phase and then drift towards Earth; the satellite emits an eerily foreboding lyric that trails amongst the twilight above:

"Darkness falls across the land,
the midnight hour is close at hand.
Creatures crawl in search of blood,
to terrorize y'awl's neighborhood.
And whosoever shall be found;
without the soul for getting down,
must stand and face the hounds of hell
and rot inside a corpse's shell…"
