Solange stood alone at practice once again, that lonely feeling re-entering her body, Belly was alone too which made things a little better for her, still, she expected Jeremiah to show up, even if they weren't on the best of terms "I'm gonna go to the bathroom" Isabella mumbled, regretting not asking Cam in the beginning as she trotted out of the door frame.Nicole stared over at her, nodding and walking away from the instructor, "hey-" the darker girl tried, Lange side-eyed her, tucking her bottom lip in "go away" was all she murmured.
"I'm sorry-"
"save the sorry ass apology" Solange cut her off "look, I get that you like Conrad, I understand that maybe you felt disregarded and used but instead of you and your lame ass friends talking about it and acting your age you decided to leave us in some random neighborhood at one in the morning, I don't care that your sorry, I don't give a rats ass about Conrad not wanting you, Belly is my best friend and what you did was fucked up, move on" she went off, leaving the girls mouth hanging.
It had felt a little hypocritical of her to talk about not being wanted considering she probably would've done the same thing, just because Isabella and she hadn't been on the same page recently didn't mean that she'd allow Belly to get stepped on - once Lange realized that the 'sorry ass friends' she mentioned had been peering over at the situation, a smile forming on her lips before she left the practice, it was no reason for her to be there either way.
⁂
Solange patiently waited for the door to be opened, the sound of screaming coming from the house "you can't wear my fucking bra, Duncan! I don't care about your dumb video" Elaine's voice could be heard. The darker girl's eyebrows raised, "someone get the door!"
All of a sudden it opened, the boy from the night before standing there "are you stalking me?" a smirk played on his lips as he leaned on the doorway, something shattering in the back "no Elliot, I'm here for Elaine" Solange responded.
"You sure cause I could've sworn I saw you smile when I opened the door" Elliot flirted, he was attractive yes, like the kind of guys you see in coming of age movies, or maybe the ones who get famous for simply being, attractive, but forming a crush on yet another 'best friends' brother wasn't in her cards and Lange also already had two guys pining after her, adding a third wouldn't help anything, in all honesty, it would make her life harder than it was "aren't you a charmer" she responded.
"As I've been told, how old are you?" the boy asked, he figured it would be a question that should come up eventually, he'd been flirting with someone he didn't know, last time that happened she ended up being fifteen, with a kid, someone he should stray far away from "why? how old are you Elliot?" she asked.
"I like the way you say my name" he had dimples, and a pearly white smile, Solange could tell what kind of guy he was and the way he'd been looking at her wasn't friendly "I'm sixteen" the girl answered his question.
She grinned at the way his expression deteriorated, "when's your birthday?"
"in three weeks.""I can work with that, you should give me your number" the boy continued to flirt, his hands running through his brown hair, "I don't give my number out to strangers," she said.
"We can chan-"
"Piss face! stop flirting with my friends, she doesn't want you, get a life you have a girlfriend" Elaine shouted at him, trying to push past her hunkier brother "no I don't- no I don't, she's lying" his head turned from side to side.
"Move dickface!" Elaine's hands gripped his hair, pulling his hand back "ouch- you're hurting me!" he groaned, no longer being the main one in front of her, Solange chuckled as she forced the door shut "um, you ready...?"
"No, my dumb ass brothers won't stop being immature" Elaine replied, "give me a minute."
⁂
"Aren't you guys so excited? the deb balls in less than a week!" Susannah poured the rice onto plates, reaching for the sour chicken next, Solange hadn't been excited, the person who was supposed to be her date spent his week laughing at Taylor's unfunny jokes and running behind Belly, the person she liked, had a girlfriend, at least until she made up her mind "no, I don't wanna go, I don't have a date" Lange answered, pushing her food side to side.
"I don't have a date either, men suck" Belly added, the two earning stares from all three of the boys "I don't suck," Jeremiah said.
Solange laughed, getting up to grab a drink "no, you most definitely suck" she mumbled.
The girl opened the fridge, grabbing a soda before shutting it, Jeremiah nodded, leaving the kitchen in a hurry, "that was a little dramatic" Lange sarcastically added, rolling her eyes, Laurel and Susannah exchanged looks.
"I thought Jeremiah was your date sweetie...."
"So did I, until he just didn't show up, again, just like he hasn't at all since I was forced into this deb bullshit" Solange cursed, feeling herself on the brink of tears, she hadn't known why, maybe because it was all piling up, the emotions stacking. Steven and belly looked at each other, Connie's eyebrows furrowing "maybe Conrad-"
"No Laurel, I don't want Connie to be my date, I don't even wanna be a deb, I don't like it, I stand there alone every day while everyone else is with someone, I'm always alone! and this- this skirt is itchy" Solange finished her rant, finding her hands tugging at the skirt Laurel sewed for her, everyone stared, unsure of what to say so she followed in Jeremiah's footsteps.
Not even a breath could be heard, silence breezing over the kitchen like warm summer air, Steven finished putting food on her plate before grabbing it along with his "you know, I'm actually really upset and my sweats...my sweats are itchy...so I'm gonna go to bed, love you" the boy kissed his mothers cheek.
⁂
Mental breakdowns, she only had them around once a year-close to the time painful and alluring screaming would come back, this felt random compared to the others, in front of everyone was new. Solange pulled her bedsheets off of her bed, throwing them until the pile of clothes she'd made "hey...I bought you your dinner" Steven knocked once.
His eyes lit up to the sight of cleaning stuff and everything being in the middle of the floor, she stopped, pointing at the spot on her desk to set it at, not saying a word "so, what's up, why all the mess?" Steven took a pause between his words, trying to describe it properly "I'm gonna rearrange my room" she simply answered.
"Okay uh, why are you rearranging your room?" Steven asked, "because it's therapeutic, you wanna help me or just stare?"
He took a mouthful of food in, nodding and helping her scoot the dresser off of the wall.
