Everyone gathered around the fire, laughing, making memories. This would probably be the last time they got to see each other until next summer and even that wasn't promised. Elaine was leaving early with her father and brothers, the youngest one decided to tag along leaving her mother alone year-round, Angela was staying here and the Conklin's would be leaving soon, Steven would be leaving soon. The idea hurt her heart but she intended on going to the city of Boston for at least a few weeks to visit Ezra, she wanted to know him, and "you okay?" the boy squeezed her hand, realizing she was the only one quiet.
Belly and Jeremiah came, it would be the last memory as a group, she looked to the blue-eyed boy, huffing mentally with the thought that she'd eventually have to tell him, preferably tonight after she talked to Susannah about going to the suburbs of Boston for weeks "I'm fine, just thinking" she mumbled.
"Okay! so, this is the last time I might see my babies for a while, this summer was so fun" Angela drunkenly announced, beginning her out-of-place speech "I can't believe you're all leaving me, I don't want this to end."
In reality, Solange didn't want it to end either, she wasn't ready to kiss the summer farewell and wait till next year to see the close friends she made this time around, the season hadn't been her favorite and even though it was stressful, she would still stay up thinking about what happened throughout the few months, Nova began to cry, wrapping her arms around Angela "I don't wanna leave you guys, I love all of you" she said "even you" the girl pointed at belly.
"Thank you?"
"You are so welcome!"
"come on" Steven stood up, pulling her hand with his as she watched a tearful Nova go around and hug everyone in turns "where are we going?" she asked, following him.
The two made their way down the beach, close to the shoreline, Solange grinned, holding his hands in hers "okay, I finished the hate you give, and can I just say, Angie Thomas is such a good writer, like hands down" Steven egged her on, it wasn't fair judgment because he hadn't read much of anything. Lange found it cute how he remembered "I'm glad you liked it, Steven."
Solange looked at him confused, the boy realized he'd have to eventually say something so he nodded, fiddling with his hair "so..."
"So?"
"So I was thinking right, I like you, very much and you like me, hopefully" he uttered "uh, can I be your boyfriend? I really wanna be able to call you mine and I know a lots happened recently and we didn't exactly get together in the most ethical way-" he continued on, it was sweet, to her at least.
How nervous he looked, as if less than a day before she hadn't told him it was what she wanted, Solange hushed him with a kiss, the corner of her lips formed a smile "yes, now shut up" she spoke before their faces met again.
Stevens arms dangled down her waist, playing with the elastic on her mini skirt, a scream stopped their session, staring back at the beach. "Oh my fuck! you shot a firework at me what the fuck is wrong with you?" Laney shouted, hiding behind a confused Jeremiah "I didn't know it lit! the fire thingy wasn't showing!"
Belly's face looked as if it was losing color, standing next to the spot the bottle rocket flew from "Conrad what the hell!" she said.
"What if we just go home?" Lange insisted.
"Yea, most definitely..."
