"I might go visit my dad in Boston" Solange blurted out, helping Angela, Elaine and Nova set up for the ball, she lifted up one end of the table, the brunette being on the opposite side. Lange had been thinking about it for awhile now, being in a new setting would help clear her mind-on the other hand Ezra could cause more issues "you sure that's a good idea?""I mean, no, but I need a new environment even if it is for a week or so" the girl responded, pushing the table against the wall, "I'm gonna go stay with my dad and my brother in Boston during the fall, at least I won't be alone" Laney announced, holding the ballon up to the machine.
The girls nodded, Nova would be back in Boston as well, going to the same private school which left Angela alone in cousins, everything was changing and they'd been growing up "speaking of my brother, he has a thing for you and it's weird, when did you guys even meet?" Elaine asked, the curly haired girl began to smile, Angie's eyebrows raising "wait Elliot?" Nova questioned.
"How could he have a 'thing' for me when i've only known of him for like a day?" Lange shot back, now sitting on the floor with her legs over the other, tying ribbons "by 'thing' she means he wants to hit" Angela openly spoke.
"Ew! don't say that!" Elaine shouted.
"I'm not interested relax, I have enough boy problems, for one, Jeremiah was supposed to be my date and he hasn't shown up two days in a row, and Steven-" Solange took a breath "he said If I wanted him he'd break up with Shayla but I feel guilty."
"Why? you shouldn't feel guilty, it's not like you purposely went out of your way to break them up, you can't control who you like Solange" Angela used a finger to brush the hair out of her eyes. That was her role in the friend group, the mother, she gave good advice and was a comforter "that's not why, I feel guilty because of Jere, he already has this thing about being second place to everyone and i'm doing the same thing to him" she admitted.
"This might sound rude but Fuck Jeremiah, let me explain,-" Nova started "it's your life, you can't not go for what you want because of how someone else feels, it's nothing you can do about that" the girl finished what she was doing. "Literally, it's not your fault."
"What if he hates after?"
"If he does then he never loved you, a real friend would understand" said Angela.
"Or just don't tell him."
⁂
Solange paced outside of the boys room door, her hands clamping together, her feet crossing each other as the thoughts jogged though her mind, exactly what she was gonna say, how to say it, the idea of playing break up with your girlfriend kept fighting the more smart, mature options, it was cringe so she ruled it out, even running away and not doing it crept in.
She knew who the boy she wanted was but it was always a small judge-mental voice in her head saying 'your doing too much, he don't even care' or the cruel rumblings 'bitch get a life, you aren't the chosen one' Lange despised that voice, it tended to come back during life threatening moments like the sixth grade talent show when she barfed all over Ralph harris.
It was set in stone.
After listening to her group of friends ramble on about boys, how stressful their lives were and how most of them were leaving or, planned too, in the next couple of weeks it was important that while she had the chance, she'd knock on the door and pour her heart out.
In the most un-cringe, mature way, so she did it, her knuckles glided across the white wooden door, standing there for a split second-the idea of jumping stair to stair and staying at the bottom of the stairs until his room door shut was replaying, the image strayed her away though. It opened and he stood afoot, a thin lipped smile on his face "what's up?" he said.
