Myeong-su's POV
"I wasn't informed that the other unit were to hold operations at Hyosan High," I pant as I take hurried, large steps towards the command center.
As soon as I stepped out of the truck, that news was first to greet us— especially me, apparently the unit I am with was aware the whole time we were together but no one dared to give me an update. I felt betrayed.
"We know how much you wanted to come and I'm sorry but we were told not to tell you. We knew about the condition Commander gave if you fail getting your daughter out there, and since you did, you have to do what he tells you to and that's the reason why he sent you out with the other unit. So there's really no point of telling you."
I was faced with General Seon-mu's back as I barged into the room, I can see the people inside from my peripheral vision looking at me alarmed because of my sudden appearance, them knowing that I didn't have the slightest idea what their plan was.
"You're back, Sergeant Han," Seon-mu composedly phrased, turning to face me, yet, no emotions are held within, "you knew?"
"Yeah, no shit."
I know I shouldn't be talking to him such way, he's still in a higher rank. However, I couldn't feel a tad bit of guilt.
"Hopefully you still have the deal we had in mind–" he remained calm, maintaining his cold image but that didn't last long before confusion flashed his face as I walk pass him towards the screen to monitor the unit's mission.
I leaned onto the table where the computers and large screen are placed, supporting my body with my palms down the table. Eyes fixated.
We can see the view of Hyosan High School's building rooftop from the other side of the screen through each of the officers' tactical helmet camera.
As they get closer, a scene flashed on the screen showing kids in uniforms running towards where the helicopter is about to land in desperation– still looking normal though from what I see by the cameras. Waving and shouting based on their expressions though it can't possibly be heard by those in the chopper cause of the loud whirring of the helicopter.
The officers got down one by one but what got me taken aback was them pointing those guns at the children making them back away in fear. A spark of hope still shines within me that my daughter is one of those young survivors yet my heart throbs thinking she's one of those being pointed with gun.
A woman most likely to be in her 30s came in front, shielding the students from the officers as she speaks but is impossible for us here inside the room to hear nor any noise from there could.
We intently watch, observing every kids' appearances but two unmoving teenage girls beside each other caught my attention. One of them standing straight, while the other has her palms pressed against her ears behind everyone else. And by her features; height, that round yet small face, straight, long hair– even from afar she is way too familiar.
Nam-ra and my Jaewon are quite the same. The mannerisms, behavior, and such... They're both introverted.
"Is.... Is that my–"
Before I could even form my sentence, they got down on the ground. As the realization hit me, my vision became blurry, liquid brimmed my eyes. Anxious and hopeful at the same time.
