Chapter 23- The Dinner

another week another update.

The next update will be on the weekend of the 12-14 August. Maybe a week before and the reason for this is work for one of us and vacation in Paris for the 2nd autor.

Two weeks after Adrien's birthday party and the lying affair with Lila. Everything was nearly back to normal. Marinette did not speak so far with any of her friends about the nightmares. Also there were no attacks from Hawkmoth and it felt like a long deserved vacation.

Marinette and Adrien spend as much time as possible together and also go on double dates with Alya and Nino. The nightmare from Nino still is causing many disruptions in his relationship to Alya and is impacting his friendship with Adrien heavily. Nino and Adrien are not talking very often and Nino tries at all possibilities to avoid Adrien which causes massive confusion.

It was Saturday morning and Marinette and Adrien spent the night together like nearly always. Adrien was already part of the family. As both of them wanted to take it slowly nothing important happened besides the fact that Adrien did not introduce Marinette to his father and Nathalie.

Marinette and Adrien enjoyed the morning with fresh bakery goods and an awesome sunny day in Paris. "What you would ..." Adrien wanted to ask when Marinette's phone started to ring. Marinette looked at the phone and said "Strange, I do not know this number. Maybe you do?" She showed the phone to Adrien who responded "I think that is Nathalie. My father's PA but why is she calling you?"

"I do not know. I am answering it ok?" Marinette said and Adrien nodded. "Hello, Marinette speaking. Who is there?" Marinette said while pushing the conversation on speaker that Adrien could listen. "Hello, I am Nathalie, Nathalie Sancoeur. You are Marinette Dupain-Cheng right? The girlfriend from Adrien?" Marinette looked at Adrien with a confused face and replied "Yes, I am Marinette Dupain-Cheng, the girlfriend of Adrien. Why do you ask? Is something wrong?"

Nathalie said "No, nothing is wrong. Mr. Agreste and I are worried, as Adrien did not respond to any calls and requests to meet up with his father. We only know he drops by to change clothes, sometimes sleeps here and is taking care of his appointments." "So nothing is wrong? Why are you calling?" Marinette said with a confused look at Adrien. "Mr. Agreste would like to invite you and Adrien over for dinner tonight. As Adrien never replied to his messages or answered the phone I am now calling you." Nathalie said softly.

Adrien took a deep breath and said "Hey Nathalie, what is my father planning?" "Hey Adrien, your father wants to know your girlfriend and discuss something with the two of you." Nathalie said. "Nathalie, what does my father want to discuss with Mari and me? If you are not explaining it to us I will reject it." Adrien responded while shaking his head and looking at Marinette who shrugged her shoulders and disabled the microphone and whispered "We sooner or later must meet up with him."

Adrien looked away nodding in understanding and said "You are right but let's wait for Nathalies answer". Marinette turned on the microphone and said "Nathalie, can you please answer Adrien's questions?" "Yes, with pleasure. First of all Gabriel wants to apologize to you. He understood after the lies from Lila Rossi and that his behavior was wrong. Second of all you may have noticed that no photos from the photoshooting with Lila and Adrien, one day after his birthday party, were published and the reason for this is all photos got destroyed. Mr. Agreste himself ordered it. And last but not least he wants to talk about business with you two." Nathalie explained.
