Chapter Nine

Yuno's P.O.V

Yuno was jolted awake by the sound of the door opening and found himself sitting on the floor. He doesn't know when he fell asleep but now he was up and rushing to Ray's bedside making sure nothing changed when he was asleep. When he saw her resting peacefully he let out a sigh of relief. Yuno then turned around and acknowledged the other people in the room. It was Buddha and the doctor in the room with him. The doctor walked passed Yuno to examine his sister. Once the doctor was done and wrote all his note in his chart he spoke. "Once Ms. Mond is awake and she is good to go, but you have to stick to our agreement of bringing her for checkups every two days." Yuno nodded in agreement not feeling like speaking right now. " I will go get her discharge papers ready then just come down to the nurses desk when you are ready to go." With that the doctor left the room leaving just Buddha in the room with him. As the door was closing Yuno caught a glimpse of a police uniform outside.

Buddha walked over to the opposite side of the bed "We set everything up and her new doctor should be meeting us at the manor. Bass also said he would give us a police escort to make sure nothing happens." Buddha informed him. Yuno still didn't respond knowing Buddha already knew he heard him. He moved his hand up and brushed the hair out of Ray's face. "I always thought if one of us ended up seriously injured the our places would be switched. I never imagined I would ever be in this position" Yuno said finally speaking. " No one ever imagines that their loved one will be hospitalized, you need to quit blaming yourself and feeling guilty." Buddha told him.

Before the conversation could continue he felt his sister start to wake up. "Yuno you didn't leave."Ray said. Yuno was still caressing her hair. " I promised I would never leave you alone again and I won't break that promise." Yuno said as he helped her sit up. "How are you feeling does it hurt anywhere." He asked while checking her over. "I feel like shit but i'm in the hospital so I guess that is to be expected. " she said. "I know we had this conversation yesterday, but do you remember anything at all? Even the smallest detail will help us find who did this to you." Yuno asked hoping she would have at least some recollection of what happened. "I'm sorry Yuno I still don't remember anything." Ray said. Yuno could here the disappointment in her voice. " It is ok Ray that is honestly probably for the best." Yuno said. "I have to go sign your release forms so we can get you out of here, but Buddha will stay with you while I am gone. There are also two officers outside your door. " Yuno told her. He could see the panic in her face and hear her heartbeat start to rise. " Hey Hey I will be back, it will only take ten minutes max and I am just down the hall. By the time you change and get ready to go i will be done and we can go home. Ok. I promise you will be fine." Yuno reassured Ray. He saw her start to relax again. "Ten minutes max you promise" Ray asked him. "Yes I Promise." Yuno said.

Ray's P.O.V

Ray sat there and stared at Yuno's back as he left the room. She was so grateful her brother was here, she would be so lost without him. She was broken out of her thoughts when Buddha spoke to her. "Do you need any help getting up or are you ok on your own?" "Um I don't know I haven't tried to stand on my own yet." Ray said. She then moved to the edge of the bed and tried to stand, but the moment she put her whole body weight on her legs they gave out from under her. Luckily Buddha was there to catch her so she didn't fall flat on her face. "I guess I will need that help." She tried to laugh but it just turned into a huge coughing fit. Ray noticed the look of concern that crossed his face, but he didn't say anything.

Buddha help her walk over to the bathroom. "There are clothes on the counter along with other things you may need. When you are done if you need help again just knock on the door twice. I will wait right outside the door until you are done." He told her. "Thank You so much for all your help I will be out in a minute." Ray said and then she closed the door. When she turned around the girl in the mirror shocked her. She didn't notice the girl staring back at her. She had stitches above her left eyebrow and her right cheek was sporting a nasty yellow colored bruise. Her hair was matted and full of dirt and what she thought looked like old blood. Ray reached a hand up to touch her eye and hissed at the pain. Ray then pulled her shirt over head and saw her whole body covered in scars and ugly bruises a few stitches here and there. She ran her fingers along every scar, but we she got to the scar on her right lower hip she felt her blood run cold. Someone had carved a heart shaped scar into her hip and seeing that scar cause her to remember how she got it.

It was dark and Ray couldn't make anything out clearly. It seemed as if she was standing in the background watching everything happen, but she couldn't make out his face. She was laying on the floor crying as he was standing over her. " I know you don't realize we are meant to be, but I will make you see it even if it takes a bit of pain." He told her. "Your a psycho. How do you call this love. I won't ever love you." She said. The man above her chuckled loudly before speaking. " Just remember I gave you a choice, but I guess I have to show you our love." He grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the floor over to the back wall. Ray struggled the whole time trying to get out of his grip only she was to weak and injured to put up much of a fight. He chained down her arms and legs before grabbing his knife. Ray knew what was about to happen, but she could never prepare herself for the pain. The man stabbed the knife into her hip and carved out a heart shape into her. She let out a blood curdling scream. "Please stop, I'm sorry please I promise I will be good. Please" Ray kept repeating over and over again

Ray was broken out of her daydream by the sound of pounding on the door and her brothers worried voice. " Ray open the door. Please open the door so I can help you." Ray realized she was curled into a ball on the bathroom floor trembling. She used the last of her strength to crawl over to the door and unlock it, before collapsing back into a sobbing mess on the floor. It took less than half a second for Yuno to get through the door and fall to the floor scooping Ray up in to his arms. "Shhh Ray Shhh. It wasn't real, I am here and you are safe. Whatever you saw wasn't real." He told her while rubbing her back and rocking her back and forth. "But it was real and i have all these scars to prove it." She said through broken sobs. "Can you tell me what you saw? If it is to difficult that's fine," Yuno asked her. Ray took a minute to try and calm down enough to speak before answering. He carved that heart into me because I said I didn't love him. He said he would give me something so I could never forget our love." By the time she finished speaking she was hysterical again.

They sat there for another twenty minutes before Ray was calm enough to get up and finish getting ready. This time she didn't look in the mirror even once. She got changed as quickly as possible and left the bathroom her legs were aching from the pain of standing by the time she finished. Ray was extremely grateful when she saw the wheel chair in her room. Yuno rushed over to her when e saw her legs shaking and helped her to the wheel chair. "Thank you Yuno." Ray said. "You don't have to thank me for anything." He told her. "Yes I do you haven't left my side and you are being my rock. I don't know what I would do without you." She said. "Well you will never have to find out. Now let's get you out of here all the papers are signed and Buddha Is waiting outside with the car." He said in a cheerful voice. She knew he was faking though for her and the least she could do for him is try to give him a smile as well. "Yeah let's go, I am so ready to get out of here." She told him, while putting on her best fake smile as Yuno pushed her out of the hospital.
