Chapter 20 - What If....

-The Next Day-

Demi’s Pov

I woke up the next morning and I suddenly remembered what had happened the night before and I started to panic again. Joe’s arm was still around me and I felt it tighten and him say “Everything is going to be okay, just relax”

I turned around to face him and he pecked me on the lips, “I am here for you” he said

“What are we going to do?” I asked him

“What are you thinking?”

“I could take the morning after pill” I suggested

Joe then glanced over at my clock and said “Its 9am, you can stay in bed for a bit longer”

“Okay” I replied, paused then said “Are you sure that will be okay?”

“Babe, please stop worrying, it will be okay”

“I love you” I said, but I couldn’t help thinking about last night.

“Do you have a pill that you could take?”

“Yeah, I think so”

Joe’s Pov

Demi is very worried, I want her to just relax, I hate seeing her like this. It was 9am when we both woke up; we could still lay in bed for a little while before Demi would have to get up and take the pill.

I am glad that she suggested taking it; I knew it was an option, but I didn’t want to mention it unless she was totally against anything like that.

She must have been still tired, because she quickly fell asleep again and when she did I put my arm back around her and pulled her close; I fell asleep too.

When we woke up again it was 11:30am, I woke up first and realised what the time was; Demi was still asleep and as much as I didn’t want to wake her, I knew that I had to. I kissed her softy on the lips and she woke up and smiled; but her smile soon faded and she said in a panicked voice “What time is it?”

“It’s 11:30” I replied

“Sh*t”

“What?” I asked looking confused

“I have to take the morning after pill Joe; and it’s nearly afternoon!” she said getting extremely panicked. She paused looked at me and then said “What if it doesn’t work?”

“I’m sure you will be fine Dems” I said trying to reassure her, although I wasn’t sure myself.

She quickly got up and ran into her bathroom.

Demi’s Pov

We fell asleep and then woke up again at 11:30, it’s nearly afternoon and I haven’t taken the morning after pill yet, it’s got that name for a reason, you’re supposed to take it in the morning after you do it; but now it’s nearly afternoon and I’m starting to get worried.

I got up and ran into my bathroom, I quickly started rummaging through my make-up bag and found a morning after pill, I then ran into the kitchen without saying anything to Joe. I grabbed a glass of water and took the pill. I put the glass down by the sink and I just took slow deep breaths, trying the calm myself down.

Joe came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me “Are you okay?”

“Yeah I’m fine” I said, starting to cry

Joe turned me around so that I was facing him and he pulled me into a tight hug and kissed my forehead, he then said “Whatever happens Dems, I’m here”
