Chapter 27 - Choices

-2 days later-

Demi’s Pov

I woke up this morning, Joe still next to me; he was already awake and was laying there looking up at the ceiling. “Morning” I said

He turned to face me and said “Morning babe”

I got up and went into the kitchen and took the Folic Acid and Iron tablets; since I have been taking the Iron, especially yesterday, I have really noticed a difference, I have felt less tired and a bit hungrier, which is good, I suppose.

Joe got up and followed me into the kitchen; I swallowed the tablets and then put the glass of water down on the counter top. He looked at me, into my eyes and leaned in, we kissed deeply, like we haven’t in a long time. He pulled away when we heard the letterbox make a sound, I walked to the front door and picked up the mail; one was addressed to me, I opened it as I was walking back into the kitchen to where Joe was, I then read it aloud.

“Dear Ms Lovato,

Congratulations on graduating High School; I am writing this letter to inform you of your choices for next year, there are many options available to you.

You can go back into education, into a college of your choice and study a further degree this year or if you wish you can take a gap year. If you choose to take a gap year however, we will be sending you a similar letter around this time next year. The final choice if you wish is to not go back into education at all.

Please sign the reply form with your choice and send your reply back to me A.S.A.P. I will then be in contact with you again, regardless of your choice.

Joe looked at me and I looked at Joe “I guess this means you must have a letter to”

“Yeah, it must” he replied “What do you want to do?”

“Well, I’m probably going to take a gap year, because......” I replied looking down and placing one hand on my belly, I didn’t have a bump, but just so Joe knew what I meant.

“I understand babe” he replied

“What do you want to do?” I asked him

“Well, I do want to go and study Music at college” he replied “But I want to be here for you, so I will probably take a gap year as well”

“Joe.....” I said “I don’t want to stand in the way of you going to college”

He pulled me closer and put his hands on my waist and looked into my eyes and then said “You’re not babe, this is what I want, I want to be here for you, and if that means taking a year’s gap, then that’s what I will do”

“Okay, but only if your sure. I could probably manage while you’re at college”

“No, babe, I would hate that even more. I wouldn’t be able to stop worrying about you; especially as you get further along.”

I pulled away slightly and pecked his lips “I love you”

“I love you too Dems” he replied “Let me go and get my letter and we can fill them out together, Okay?”

“Yeah Okay. But don’t you want to ask your mom first?”

 “No, it’s my choice, and as my dad said the other day, he trusts that I will make the right decisions” He pecked my lips and then said “Okay, I’m going to go and get my letter” he then walked out the front door leaving me alone in the house.
