Antonio looked at his favorite Prima worriedly when she walked into the room. He had shared a room with her for the first four years of his life that he can remember. She's been bleeding once a month for three of those years and cramping very badly every few months for the same amount of time. When she was like that he learned very quickly whether he should get her a hot pack, just cuddle with her, or get the hell out of dodge.
Usually, when it was one of her get the hell out of dodge days Antonio vacated the nursery after giving her some tea and a hot pack, and he made sure to distract everyone so that Mirabel could sleep and ignore everyone until the pain went away. Something Casita helped him with.
Unfortunately, this was one of the days when Mirabel was not going to be allowed to stay in her room and away from everyone. Which meant shit was about to go down because Antonio checked and there was no more of tea that helped her stomach feel better.
"Dolores, warn Cami not to say anything to Mira please. She doesn't feel good." Antonio whispered to his sister who looked at him confused but did whisper the warning to her brother who looked confused as well.
"Ugh." Isabela made a noise torn between anger and disgust as Mirabel walked into the room with her glasses on but her clothes weren't her usual skirt and blouse. Instead she was wearing a too big t-shirt and a pairt of loose pants and her hair was still a mess as she grimaced.
"Can't you at least try to dress properly?" Isabela asked eyeing Mirabel's rumbled state and Antonio quickly vacated his seat to sit in his mothers lap and try to not draw Mirabel's attention to him. She was never mean to him even when she felt bad but that didn't mean he wanted to risk being in her line of sights.
"Mirabel." Abuela looked furious while Julieta looked worried as did Luisa as Mirabel went to look for the tea but grimaced and Antonio could nearly see a dark aura around her. Instead of saying anything yet she turned and reached for the orange juice and poured herself a nice big glass. Antonio watched as Casita slid a chair over to her and she nearly collapsed into it and was just along for the ride as Casita slid her to the table.
"Gracias Casita." Mirabel said patting the table gratefully and Antonio was relieved that she seemed to still have some of her niceness to her.
"What do you have to say for yourself?" Abuela demanded glaring at Mirabel and Antonio shrunk into his mother with a small whimper, immediately causing her to hold him with a confused and concerned look. Uh Oh. Abuela and Isabela should have just left Mirabel alone.
"Nothing makes me happier than knowing I can piss you of by just walking into the room." Mirabel said giving Abuela a tired flat look and Antonio's papi nearly spat out his own drink at that remark.
"Mirabel!" Isabela looked at her sister in disbelief and horror while Dolores had to slap Camilo on the back because he was choking on his food. Everyone looked stunned but Antonio just burrowed futher into his mother to try and hide.
"Young lady! What makes you think you can speak to me in that manner?!" Abuela demanded and she looked furious. Everyone flinched a little away from her except for Antonio. He was more scared and worried about what Mirabel would do.
"Sorry my 'Give a shit' fairy died." Mirabel said bluntly and then paused for a second and her tired pained eyes found Antonio.
"Tonio don't repeat that word. You have to be fifteen to curse around your Mama." Mirabel said and Antonio immediately nodded. He wasn't going to say anything though and hope that Mirabel would be excused to go back to her room to sleep off the pain.
"Mirabel! You not getting a gift is no excuse to order around your primo or act this way." Abuela nearly shouted and honestly Antonio wasn't the only one whose eyes were bouncing back and forth between Mirabel and Abuela.
