after Bruno's return and the rebuild of the Casa Madrigal after it fell apart. Isabella and her family were finally able to have some peace. but a few things were now changing. Alma, more known as Abuela to the family was starting to become less strict. which of course was good for Isabela.
her whole life Isabela always tried her best to be "perfect" so to speak. she wore the prettiest dresses, made the most beautiful flowers, and was also the firstborn grandchild which led to her getting a lot of pressure placed on herself.
Isabela acted like a different person. she did things she didn't like and she hung around people she hated and almost got married to a guy she didn't even love named Mariano. although now they both realize they don't love each other and are still friends.
to add to the pressure Isabela was also a closeted lesbian. now she knew that her family would be supportive but at the same time, she was too scared to tell anybody. since she was the perfect child she didn't want to seem "wrong" in any sort of way.
although recently Isabela has come out and her whole family is supportive and she learned to love herself for who she truly is. but Isabela has to admit she was only like this now because of her sister, Mirabel.
now at first Isabela and Mirabel were not close at all. they hated each other and tried to spend as little time as they could with each other possible. but now that was completely different. when Mirabel ended up ruining Mariano's proposal to Isabela, Isabela was of course mad.
not because she loved Mariano. but she just had a mental breakdown because she didn't want her family to think less of her. but when Mirabel talked to her in her room that changed everything.
Isabella lost her shit and told Mirabel everything. about how she hated being the perfect child and for the first time she made something she never had before, a cactus. now Isabela loves cacti and she grows them a lot, along with other plants that others would deem strange.
then Isabela and Mirabel began to talk a lot, spending almost all of their time together. then Isabela realized she had a crush on Mirabel. now normally this wouldn't be a problem but Mirabel is Isabela's sister.
this led to Isabela panicking and worrying. she didn't want to lose Mirabel since she isn't just her sister, but her best friend. but when Mirabel saw Isabela crying Isabela realized that she couldn't hide her feelings and she told her sister that she loved her and wanted to be with her.
at first, Mirabel was shocked but she soon revealed to Isabela that she loved her as well and that she's bisexual. the two of them then became secret girlfriends. now, the two of them have been dating for a year and Isabela wanted to do something for her girlfriend. but she didn't know what she could do.
suddenly getting an idea Isabela smiled. she could always make a flower crown, right? but she would of course do her sort of taking on it.
making a few cacti Isabela then got up and grabbed a wireframe and made a few purple flowers appear. grabbing a hot glue gun Isabela then made sure the cacti and flowers were glued on well enough before placing the flower crown down on her desk to dry.
once the flower crown was dry Isabela got out of her room and went to find Mirabel. soon finding her outside Isabela ran up to her.
"Hey, come to my room right now," Isabela said quickly.
"Oh, your bossy today." Mirabel laughed.
Isabella rolled her eyes. "shut up before I kiss you in front of everybody."
"Okay fine, I'm coming," Mirabel said, following Isabela as they headed into their room.
soon the two sisters arrived in Isabela's room and Isabela's grinned, running over to grab the flower crown. she felt slightly nervous. what if Mirabel didn't like it?
"so, what did you do now?" Mirabel asked.
"I-I made you something," Isabela said, grabbing the flower crown and giving it to her girlfriend. "I-I hope you like it."
"I don't like it," Mirabel said, making Isabela's heart pound. "I love it!"
she then placed the flower crown on her head and leaned forward, wrapping her arms around. Isabela.
"thank god. I thought you would hate it." Isabella replied, smiling as Mirabel hugged her. she soon hugged her sister back.
"I'll never hate anything you make me. I don't just love it. I love you. I'm glad that we managed to be together for a year." Mirabel said happily.
"same. although I wish we didn't have to keep our love a secret..." Isabella muttered.
"well, if we tell our family there's a chance that they would force us to break up and I can't handle not being without you." Mirabel pointed out.
"I know."
the two girlfriends just stayed silent for a while, hugging each other. until Isabela pulled away and then sat down on her bed alongside her sister.
"to lighten the mood I'll show you what I made you. it isn't the best drawing I ever made. but hey, I tried." reaching into her bag Mirabel then pulled out a drawing with her and Isabela on it with the sapphic flag in the background.
"I love it." Isabela grinned. she then wrapped her arms tightly around Mirabel and tackled her against the bed.
"hey! what if our family finds us like this?" Mirabel asked.
"I don't care," Isabela replied. "I'm so sick of hiding our love."
the two girls play-fought for a while, hitting each other with pillows and overall just being silly and acting the way they did when they were younger. but as it got late they then curled up on Isabel's bed.
"I just want to stay here and sleep with you," Mirabel muttered.
"well, you always can," Isabela suggested.
"but like I said before what if I get caught?" Mirabel said, panic flashing her eyes.
"then we can make up some excuse. our family couldn't separate us if they tried." Isabela pointed out.
"fair point." Mirabel grinned, calming down. "alright. I'll stay here. goodnight."
"goodnight," Isabela replied, placing Mirabel's drawing on her nightstand.
"I love you," Isabela muttered, half asleep.
"I love you too," Mirabel replied.
the two girls then fell asleep, Isabela's arms wrapped tightly around her sister and girlfriend. she will always be grateful for Mirabel. after all her sister was the one that made Isabela feel confident enough to be herself.
Isabela is so lucky to have both a girlfriend and sister as great as Mirabel. she doesn't care how her family would judge her if they find out. she's going to be with Mirabel for the rest of her life.
