CHAPTER 5

I picked up a tray and walked over to the lunch line, with Alex behind me.

"I can show them with you if you want? He won't do anything to you with me around. Alex I don't want you getting hurt. Not... not again or ever." I looked him straight in the eyes. I wanted him to know how much I cared about him, as close friends.

Alex half smiled. Then shook his head. "No, Jacks you can't come. He might. No. He would hurt you. I can take it don't worry." He patted my shoulder.

Alex went to pick his food and his sleeve fell back slightly. His arm was bruised and there were scars everywhere. My stomach twisted and I felt sick.

We filled are trays and went to sit down at our usual table. I saw Andrew walking to his table.

Wait, The popular kids sit on the other side of the room. So why is he walking over here?

"Alex is Drew looking at me?" I asked biting my lip.

Alex frowned and nodded. "Since when has he even known your name?!"

"Long st-"

"Hey Jackie. Do you guys mind if I sit here? We can brainstorm ideas for our art project. I know you are such a good artist. We will surely get an A." Andrew put his tray down on the old gum covered table. He didn't even wait for a response from us.

Alex looked at me and raised his eyebrow. I giggled slightly ,but tired to swallow it down. I new Alex would want a full explanation, later. God he could be so annoying at times. Like a brother trying to know everything going on in my life.

Suddenly, I knew I would have to tell him. I promised myself I would tell him after my next dream.

"So. What is your favorite thing to draw?" Drew asked. He actually sounded curious.

"Well. Um I really like to sketch nature scenes and paint them after." I replied. Wow my voice sounded almost confident. Almost.

Alex had heard me talk about art before. He knew I loved to paint the ocean.

"Cool. Maybe we cou-"

I never got to hear the rest of his sentence.

My eyes snapped shut and a new vision started.
