HONOR MAEVE

"Japan?"

"No"

"Poland?"

"No"

"America?"

"No!" I shout aloud

"I'm not naming my child after a country!"

Alec grunts whilst dropping onto the couch

"I just feel you need to take my name recommendations a lot more seriously. America is a damn good name" he mutters whilst his head is on his side, looking over at me in the kitchen

I stop what I'm doing, giving Alec a sarcastic expression.

"No!" I say one last time

Alec grunts.

I decided that I would make food tonight since Alec always makes it for me.

I've never once done this for someone, only ever myself. So the pressure is appearing.

Alec doesn't trust me at all... he thinks I'll burn something or ruin the kitchen.

He's trying to distract himself by talking shit.

America? Seriously? We live in America...

I'm making him a cheese pizza.

Bland.

Basic.

Simple to make.

But if he thinks I can cook, then he's fucking stupid.

I still want to do this though.

I put the pizza inside the oven, closing the door after then walking towards the couch were Alec is led across it.

"Move" I demand

Alec moans, pointing to the other couch.

"Sit there, this is my seat"

"I always sit there" I say sarcastically

"Nope. Not unless you call the baby America"

I glare at him.

"Fine. I'll just sit on top of you then"

I begin walking towards him, but he quickly moves over into a sitting position.

I laugh at him, finding comfort in his presence.

I sigh, relaxing in my seat.

This sofa is so comfortable.

"I think it's a boy" I whisper, looking over at Alec.

He already had his eyes on mine.

"It's a girl" he whispers back at me, smiling.

"Oh, yeah. Why's that?"

He looks into my eyes with so much honesty.

Trust. Bravery. Compassion.

Love.

It's addicting. I could stare into his eyes all day. The green reflects to the light, making his eyes glisten.

"I just know" he whispers, his eyes moving to my mouth.

My heart beats quicker than ever. My arms gain goosebumps and shivers flow down my spine.
