I pack a duffle with a change of clothes, shorts and a vest for pyjamas, and weapons and sling it over my shoulder. Cas, Zi, and I were heading to Aldrich, Missouri to check it out. While Dean and Mary were staying behind. It's good she's staying behind because Erebus was plotting various types of ways to murder her in our mind. I walk through the Bunker, towards the garage. We were taking a trunk to Aldrich. Entering the garage, I take the keys from the keyholder and place my duffle in the back. "I'm driving,"
"You can do half, one of us can do the other half," Zi attempts to bargain and I snort.
"Nope," I decline. "It's roughly 6 hours there, that's nothing," I turn around and hug Dean.
"Be safe, Lee-Lee," My eyes well at the familiar nickname.
"You too, De," I pull back and head to the driver's seat, hopping in. Zi climbs in the front while Cas goes to the back.
"Call us when you get there," Dean commands, and I nod before driving up to the road, and to Aldrich.
"Which way are we going," Cas asks.
"Well, US-24 and head onto the I-70, it'll be slightly quicker but there's a toll," I explain. "Or there's US-36 and we head south onto the I-229 and stay on until it becomes I-29 and we go through Kansas City. It's slightly slower but there's no toll,"
"Margin of time,"
"8 minutes slower,"
"Take the no tollway,"
"Okay," I indicate left and head onto the US-36.
After 4 hours, we were approaching Kansas City along the I-29. "Can you google a close-by Starbucks for me?" Zi nods and gets out his phone. "Drive-through preferably,"
"There's one close to the I-29 and is right next to the slip road to get back on it,"
"Great, let me know when to turn off,"
About 10 minutes later, I take the slip road off and head right on to NW Barry Road, making a left and coming up to the drive-through. It was quite busy but they were getting their orders out fast. And Mcdonald's next door was busier. I press the button for the speaker.
"Hi, welcome to Starbucks. What can I get you?" The voice asks over the speaker.
"Can I get a grande oat milk hot chocolate, please? With marshmallows, no whipped cream," I order, politely, and turn to the boys. "Want anything?" They shake their heads and I nod. "And a chicken caesar wrap, and lightly salted kettle chips?"
"One grande oat milk hot chocolate with marshmallows and no whipped cream; chicken caesar wrap; and kettle chips, is that everything for you?"
"Yes, thank you,"
"We're just getting that ready for you," The speaker switches off and I move the car to behind the one at the window.
"Let me drive?" Zi requests and I look at him. "You can eat then," I nod and remove my seatbelt, swapping seats with Zi. Zi gets into the driver's seat and moves the car forward into the empty space next to the window. He hands the woman a $20 note and she gives him change before passing over everything. He begins to drive out on NW Barry Road and up the slip road onto the I-29 again. I put the hot chocolate
"Thank you," I mumble, biting into my wrap. I was hungry. I haven't eaten in a while and we set off around 4, so, it was already dinner time.
"No problem," Zi gives me a grin. "Where do I go after the I-29?"
"Keep on it, it'll eventually become the I-49 and we need to take that until we turn east onto Missouri Route 7," I explain. "Once we get to Clinton, we'll take the Missouri Route 13 south which switches to Route 52 briefly before going back to Route 13. At some point, you'll take a slip road onto Route 123 going south still and if we stick with Route 123, we'll arrive at Aldrich,"
