Bella lay sleeping in her bed, not knowing that a woman with long, curly, brilliant orange hair that looked like fire was very close. Her blood-red eyes were locked on her sleeping prey, unaware that another predator was nearby. The woman reaches for Bella's window but suddenly jumps from the tree branch underneath her feet as a pebble smashes into it. She lands on her feet with a feline grace but instantly takes off into the woods with Adel just inches behind her. Adel bends forward, putting all her strength into her legs as she rams right into Victoria, causing them both to collide with the ground. Dirt and debris fly up from the impact, but the sound of boulders smacking together could be heard from within the cloud of dirt. The redhead's body flies out, crashing through a tree. The tree begins to fall as the redhead stands up, but Adel catches it by the trunk and swings it at the woman, but she jumps out of the way. The tree crashes into another tree with a loud smack breaking into hundreds of splinters. The redhead turns and runs once more with Adel on her tail. They blur through the forest, but as the redhead jumps over a stream, Adel slides to a stop. A low growl rumbles within her chest as the redhead smirks at her. Suddenly howls echo through the trees, causing the woman's smirk to fall and a look of annoyance to replace it. "Which will it be, Victoria? The big bad wolves or me?" Adel asked. Victoria growls, looking at Adel with hatred, but she turns and runs deeper into the woods. Adel could see blurs of fur appear and chase after Victoria.
The next night Bella steps out of her old truck with another woman of native descent. She was very tall with russet-colored skin and a very athletic build like an Olympic runner. She wore her shoulder-length raven-black hair in a short ponytail. Her deep-set twinkling dark brown eyes never left Bella. "Don't worry....," the girl said as she walked towards the porch of the swan house but stopped at the sight of Adel on the porch. Bella's eyes light up at the sight of the brunette vampire though she wasn't sure why a vampire she barely knew was able to make her finally feel something other than the numbness that's consumed her since Edward left. "What are you doing here, leach?!" The woman spat as she moved in front of Bella.
"This is Cullen territory. I have every right to be here," Adel said calmly. Bella was surprised she was sure if Edward were here, she would have to break a fight up, but Adel seemed utterly unfazed.
"Not after what your family did—" the woman said, but Adel interrupted her.
"Watch your words, youngling. I do not care if you slander me, but if you disrespect my family, things will become very unpleasant, and I don't wish to do such horrible things in front of Bella," Adel warned as if she was scolding a child. The woman glares at Adel as her body starts to shake, but Bella touches her shoulder.
"It's ok, Jackie, she's not going to hurt me.....just go home; I'll be fine with Adel here," she said, then walked towards Adel.
Jackie suddenly grabs Bella's arm, halting her movement, "If you go with her, I won't be able to protect you," she said, hoping Bella would understand. Adel moves towards the porch steps, not liking how Jackie had grabbed Bella, but she wouldn't speak for the doe-eyed human.
Bella had to make the choice herself, "I'll be ok, Jackie, just go," she said, then pulled out of her friend's grip and walked up the steps to Adel. Jackie's hands closed into tight fists as images of ripping Adel apart right there filled her mind, but instead, she turned around and jogged away.
