                    In the kitchen of the Denali household, Adel leans against the counter. "Aro will want us incapacitated before he attacks. Jane and Alec will try and take me out first because I can control their moves," she explained.

                    "Too bad we don't all have your shield," Garret said, looking at Bella.

                    "Doesn't help me fight, though," she explained.

                    "No, but you could help the rest of us if you could project it," Tanya said.

                    "What do you mean?" Bella asked.

                    "I mean, shield someone other than yourself," Tanya explained.

                    "Is that possible?" Bella asked in surprise.

                    "Gifts can be developed. Over time," Carlisle explained.

                    "At first, mine was just in my palms. Now I can radiate it all over my body," Kate explained as electricity ran through her hand.

                   "How do you do it?" Bella asked, then took ahold of Kate's hand a little too hard. "Tell me," she demanded excitedly.

                    Kate grimaced a little, "Ow," she said.

                    "Easy love, or you might crush her hand," Adel said as she walked to her mate's side. Bella, let's go with an apologetic face.

                    Minutes later, they all stood outside, trying to help Bella develop her abilities. "You need to visualize it. See how it moves. What color it is. Now picture it expanding. Will it to go beyond you," Kate explained. Bella tries but only manages to bring up her shield for a moment.

                    "I think she needs something to motivate her," Kate said.

                    Adel steps forward, "No," Bella said instantly.

                    "It's all right. I'm used to Kate's abilities," Adel explained.

                    Kate smirks, "Fun times," she says. A flash of jealousy passes over Bella and Garret. Adel rolls her eyes and puts her hand up, ready to touch Kate's hand.

                    "Focus, Bella, or she's gonna be hurting," Emmett said.

                    "Adel, I'm not ready to do this yet," Bella said, but it was too late. Kate touches Adel's hand, sending a painful electric shock through her. Adel grits her teeth, barely staying up but gasps in relief when Kate lets go of her hand.

                    "I'm sorry. I said that I wasn't ready," Bella said, worried for her mate.

                    "Dude, you're not motivating her," Emmett said.

                    "Why don't you come over here and give it a go then?" Adel asked. Emmett puts his hands up and backs off. Bella tries again to use her power, and Kate touches Adel, sending a stronger electric shock through her body, causing Adel to fall to her knees in pain.

                    "Kate!" Bella growled.

                    Kate pulls away from Adel and looks at Bella, "You seem to lack incentive. Shall I go see if Charlie or Erik are awake?" she asked.
