A month has passed since the fall of Victoria and her newborn army. The Cullen's had faked Adel's and Bella's death with a horrible car accident off a mountainside in Alaska. Carlisle had talked Charlie into allowing him to pay for both funerals even though there wasn't anything left of the bodies. After the funeral, the Cullen's moved out of Forks needing a new start. In the mountains of Alaska, a large cabin house sits amongst the trees and snow miles from any town. Bella lays on a couch in a large living room with a massive fireplace and a wide-screen tv over it. The quilt made by Renee lays over Bella's enormous stomach, keeping her warm and cozy as she reads a book. Jackie sat at the other end of the couch with Bell's feet on her lap while Emmett sat on the floor in front of Bella. They both bantered while playing mortal combat together. Jackie glances at Bella with worry noticing how tired and sickly her friend looked with bags under her eyes. Carlisle had estimated that Bella would give birth any day now, and so he turned one of the bedrooms into a medical wing. Adel walks into the house with Irina, both of them laughing with bright topaz eyes. Bella smiles and taps Emmett's shoulder, making him move. She slowly stands up, revealing that she is almost skin and bones. She moves toward Adel but suddenly, her back breaks, and she begins to fall to the floor. Adel rushes forward, catching Bella's head before it hits the ground. Bella cries out in pain as she goes into labor. "Get Carlisle now!" Adel yelled. Irina rushes out of the house to find Carlisle as Emmett helps Adel carry her mate into a bedroom filled with medical equipment. They lay Bella in the medical bed. "Emmett pass the morphine," Adel ordered. Jackie paces as she talks on the phone with Carlisle.
"Carlisle said the placenta must have detached," Jackie explained. Emmett hands Adel the morphine, which she injects into Bella's arm. "He's coming as fast as he can...," Jackie said but Adel interrupted her.
"We'll have to do it," she said, then took a scalpel to cut Bella's stomach open, but she hesitated.
"We should let the morphine spread," Emmett said.
"There's no time..... Get her out now!" Bella screamed as another wave of pain washes over her. Not being able to deny her mate
Adel cuts into Bella's stomach, "Look at me, Bella," Jackie says as she holds her friend's hand. Bella screams once more, "Save her! You've got to change her!" Jackie pleaded.
"I can't, not whilst she's still in there. I got to get her out first," Adel said.
Jackie tries to keep Bella awake through the trauma, "Stay, Bella. Stay focused. Keep your heartbeat," she begged.
"She's suffocating!" Bella cried out.
"...Forgive me," Adel whispered, then ripped the embryonic sac with her teeth. Adel's eyes fill with surprise. "Emmett help me," she ordered, then pulled one baby boy out, handing him to Emmett, then pulled out a second baby boy.
Emmett brings both babies over to Bella, "T..there beautiful," she whispered, then grew eerily silent.
"Bella? Bella? Bella!" Jackie called out.
"Emmett take the babies out of here," Adel ordered as Jackie tried to give Bella CPR. Emmett leaves with Adel's sons as she pulls a syringe out from a drawer and injects it into Bella's chest.
"What is that?" Jackie asked.
"It's my venom," Adel explained. They both wait a few seconds, looking for any signs that the venom is working, but nothing happens. Adel begins to panic and starts to give Bella CPR, "You're okay. Come on. It's supposed to be working.....Come on. Bella, come on," she begged with tears in her eyes, but Bella continues to be unresponsive. "You're not dead. You're not dead. Come on! No, it will work. It will work. Please, please, please, please. Come back to me, please, baby. Bella, Bella, please, please," Adel begged as she began to bite all over Bella's body. Jackie pulls Adel away from Bella and holds her as they both crumble onto the floor in tears though Adel's would never truly fall. Not long after, Carlisle returns and calms Adel down, "She shouldn't be this still," Adel said.
"It's the morphine. Listen closely to her heart," Carlisle said. Adel closes her eyes and concentrates on her mate. Adel's ears pick up the sound of a faint heartbeat. The Cullens bathe and dress Bella in fresh clothes.
As three days passed, Bella's hair lightened and slowly thickened. Her body fills out, and her wounds heal while the bags under her eyes disappear. On the last day, Bella's eyes open, revealing blood-red irises. Bella looks around, immediately noticing the differences in her senses, seeing each dust particle in the air, and the textures and details of things in the room. Bella's eyes land on Adel, and she becomes overwhelmed by her mate's true beauty that her human eyes could never contemplate. She sits up, moving too fast for the human eye, and appears in front of Adel. Bella focuses on Adel and starts touching all over her body lightly as Adel strokes her face. "You're so beautiful you could make the gods jealous," Adel said with a smile. Bella embraces her, not realizing her newly found strength was causing her mate some discomfort. "Hey, Bella..... you're a lot stronger than I am right now. It's your turn not to break me," Adel said with a soft chuckle.
Bella instantly loosened her grip and looked up at her mate, "I love you," she whispered.
Adel smiles, "I love you," she says, then leans down, brushing her lips against Bella's.
"The boys," she said, realizing their babies weren't with Adel.
"Erik and Charlie are fine," Adel said, surprising Bella.
"You named one of them Charlie?" She asked.
"I thought it would honor his memory. The boy's full names are Erik Ragnar Cullen and Charlie Björn Cullen. Their middle names are in honor of my father and little brother," Adel explained.
Bella smiles, "I love it. Where are they? I have to see them," she says, then turns towards the door.
"Wait. Wait. You need to get your thirst under control first," Adel said. The mention of Bella's hunger causes her to grab her throat as it burns with thirst. "You'll need to hunt now," she said, then led Bella out the open window.
