I looked at the vision in my hands, not moving, not even blinking.
I heard people starting to chatter in the background... But it felt somehow so distant.
"...Y/n..."
Huh, what? Did Kazuha call me? Nah, I'm probably just hearing things... Got pretty much of a shock here... Yeahhhhh it must have been just my imagin-
"Y/n!"
Okay. Maybe it wasn't my imagination.
Now i was sure it was real as i finally snapped out of my thoughts and bothered to look up to where Kazuha stood.
But i couldn't really say anything... Words like didn't come out. I just stared into his crimson eyes and went through everything that had just happened.
I was trying to recall what Kazuha had said before i looked at him, but nothing came to me.
"...sorry Kaedehara... What did you say?"
"I asked if you were alright," he replied. And that was the moment that i actually looked into his eyes, not getting lost into them, actually looking what emotion they held. What i saw was concern. Just 100% concern.
"Oh holy sh-!...shell... of misfortune... Kazuha i'm really REALLY sorry i didn't think and... A-and don't be mad at me for rushing into things like this aaaaaaa- aaa- and also uhh..."
"And also, Y/n... Don't call me Kaedehara," he sighted in relief when he saw me coming back to my senses.
I quickly got up and hugged him as tightly as i could. Kazuha of course, as he should, hugged me tightly back.
Once we pulled away i remembered:
"Oh! Kazuha, almost forgot. Here, take a look at this," i handed him my new pyro vision."...so that's what saved you from your obvious death," he said just a bit colder than his usual self... Kind of reminding me the i-will-end-you-if-you-complain-once-more-Kazuha. But this here was still less scary.
"I'm sorry Kazuha... I won't rush into things like that anymore... I promise," i very regretfully apologized. Though i saw from Kazuha's little smug smile that he could see right through me... My promise was only half-promised since the regretfulness was only half-true.
"Aaahhh... Y/n, i'll give you another chance to say it sincerely and i might just forgot about the faked one."
"Thanks Kazu, but i don't think i could lie to you. But i still have a lot of life to live... I can't promise to not do something i might want to do later in my life," i answered.
"You're not gonna have that much life left if you go on like this," Kazuha sighed.
"Yeah but... Oh i don't know Kazu, you win."
And with that i had triggered a really cute playful smile from him. How i love to see him smile...
"...but what about Aether? And Paimon? They're... There" i tried showing with my hands what exactly was that "there". Kazuha luckily seemed to understand.
"Do you think they'll be alright?" I asked, clearly worried.
Kazuha sighed: "i don't know, Y/n, and i don't believe we can do anything about it now"
The seriousness of the situation started setting in. After all the time we tried to save Aether and Paimon... We failed and now there's nothing we can do about it now. We could have just let them be and it still would have turned out just the same.
"I... guess you're right. Gah! Why do you always have to be right?! Come on Kazuha! What's wrong with you?" I sadly laughed though i wanted to cry. Laughed so that Kazuha wouldn't see the desperation i felt in that moment.
Kazuha looked at me silently as my laugh turned into dry cries with no tears. Once i realised that, i tried stopping myself from both looking AND sounding miserable. I hid my face away because of the second-hand embarrassment i felt for my actions.
"Y/n it's fine..." Kazuha took my hands into his as he sat down in front of me.
"It's fine, don't beat yourself up about it, okay? They'll be fine anyway, you know? And regarding the question of "what's wrong with me?" i don't think anything is wrong with me since you probably would have left me long ago if there really was anything wrong." He gently said.
I nodded still unsure if what he said was true... Though it sounded alot like it was. I sighed and looked behind my back where the resistance stood and talked about the incident with Raiden Shogun and Aether... Or "the Traveler" as they liked to call him. Sad if you ask me, not even calling him with his name though he has helped them so much.
"Hey but... Kaedeha- i mean Kazuha. What do you think we should do with that thing?" I referred to the pyro vision.
"Oh? Oh... That's up to you, really. I personally don't think it's too good to have a god look over someone, but at the same time... Who am i to complain? It's not like i was free of this burden either. But i must admit, it does give you some benefits... And it works well with my vision too, don't you think?" He slightly smirked at the end of his sentence.
"Huh? Well i guess...?" I clearly wasn't expecting him to have so much to say about this.
"Well i uh think i'll just learn to use it later and i uhh... I should perhaps get someone to teach me how to wield a weapon and or i ah...""Perhaps you should," Kazuha agreed.
"Yeah... Yeah. Yeah! Yeah i should! Hey and you know what? Then i can easily burn all the drawings that didn't come out as i imagined!" I joked.
"Aaaaaah well you're right but knowing you, i'm not sure of how safe it would be for others..."
"Hehe just kidding... Or am i?" I smirked.
"I hope you are. I wouldn't want you to burn someone..." I saw him giving a little side-glimpse to his bandaged hand with a half-hearted smile.
"Right... But i was just kidding don't worry," i assured him and gently rubbed his fingers that were still holding onto my hands.
(Well i have absolutely nothing to say in my defense. I talked to my bf most of the time or had family things or learned for school or forgot about wattpad or wanted to sleep for a change.
So i uh um well i'm back now. Yay?
