Chapter 8: A New Beginning or Something like that

Joan is finally out of the hospital. After spend almost 2 weeks in bed. We have been taking daily walks to build up her strength. She keeps telling me she feels ok. Stronger every day. Since she is all I have now. I guess I have been hanging on to her probably tighter then what I should be, but who could blame me.
Today the omegas are cooking a feast in honor of Lena, Ali's mate. She just had 2 bouncing baby boys. Yes you heard that right. 2 bouncing baby boys. Both momma and pups are healthy. And are doing well. I went over to help her settle in the morning they were released from the hospital.
She keeps telling me I'm a natural. I told her it's because I have had a lot of practice. And apparently the babies like my humming. Put little Jayden right to sleep when he was fussing from a tummy ache. Alo Jr. or AJ seems to be the calmer of the twins. Although I think they got the names wrong because Jayden looks just like his father. And AJ looks like Lena right down to the big brown eyes. As Beta of the pack if Alpha Kai doesn't produce an heir. Jayden will take the throne as next in line because he is technically first born of the two.
Joan has volunteered to sit in the pack nursery tonight. She just doesn't quite feel up to a party yet. Tyee said he will sit with her. Kai refuse to let it happen at first. But after he and I talked he seems ok with it. But threatened to rip Tyee's head from his shoulders if he tried anything before she turned 18.
This man is super protective of us. And we barely even know him. Probably has something to do with the mate bond.
Also as we have spent time together. I have been thinking that maybe this is where I am supposed to be and who I am supposed to be with. Penny or Mama Pen has started to show me the ropes of what Lunahood would look like. And it doesn't scare me as much as I thought it would. I graduated from High School early with honors and was taking classes at the local community college. When my parents got killed. My plan was to become a teacher.
As Luna one of my major duties is to help with the education of the pack. So starting next week I am teaching Spanish and investing for beginners classes. They will be here at the pack house 2 nights a week. I have a few more ideas for the pack as well. Alpha Kai is worried that I am taking on too much too soon without being fully committed to the pack. He is deep rooted in traditions. But tonight on our date before the party I will tell him of my plans to stay here.
Last night Joan and I talked it over. She plans on taking Tyee as her true mate when she turns 18 in a year and a half. Kai and I are dating. Maybe after tonight's talk we can officially start a serious relationship. I see the way he looks at me. I know this is getting real for him also.
I remember the conversation my mom had with me about dating an older man. And with Kia being Alpha and needing to produce a heir. Once we are mates. I know that I will be expected to produce one. I'm ok with having 2. Kai said he would like 4 children some day. I'm ok with that if he carries 2 of the 4 LOL! He thinks I'm joking. I am dead serious.
Later that day I met Kai in the dining room. We are grabbing our lunch to go. This afternoon we are hiking to the pack border. Kai wants to show me the "safe zone"is what he refers to it as. Everything within the border is protected and is also surveillances by the pack. But the safe zone is where if any wolf other outside the pack attacks you. Patrol can get to you within minutes and it's automatic death to any rogue.
He knows that I have a fear of rogues after what happened to my parents. I think this is his way of saying he has my back. Just the other night we did a finger prick exchange. We both pricked our fingers . And pressed our bloody finger tips together. The blood exchange will allow to mindlink him if I ever needed help. He convinced me to do it, by saying that if Joan ever went down on one of our walks he could send for help. I know I know. He got me right in my soft spot. Protecting my family. But at least I know that I can reach him encase of an emergency. Not going to lie. It felt super weird at first. It was like having someone call you while they were in the same room on the phone. And the phone call echoed the conversation you know. But we practice for an hour and then everything became more natural.
It's still very weird to hear someone in your head and your mouth or their mouth isn't moving.
We grabbed the picnic basket and headed out. Since Kai was in Alpha mode. Giving orders for the party and checking patrols. We drove the Jeep about 5 miles out of town, into the woods. And parked it. Then walked all the way to the base of the mountains. I pointed out where Joan and I camped out for a few weeks.
Leia, I am well aware of where you and your sister were camping. Patrol spotted the horse and followed you to the camp by the rocks.
We kept an close eye on you making sure you were not going to cause any trouble. But I didn't know who you were til the diner.
He stopped just before a clearing. He pointed at what looks like a natural clearing at first glance. But staring at it now. It looked like a clear borderline has made.
Within this tree line patrol can get to you. Mindlink works whether you are a pack member or not. Just behind the trees on the other side is a creek. Anything past the creek is our territory but you will be on your own.
Ok. I say to him. But he is not so quick to accept my answer.
No Leia. It's not ok. I want you to understand that. If you are not mated to me. If you past the creek so help me goddess.
Kai!
I mean it Leia. I can't lose you. I just found you and I never knew I needed you til you were right in front of me. Losing you because you chose to live your life elsewhere is one thing. Losing because I didn't hear you or didn't get here fast enough is another.
Kai. Please. I say barely above a whisper. Kai just listen to me.
