Book 1: The Alpha Who Saved Me

Chapter 10: The Fight

It never occurred to me they would find us. The rogue in the attack a few days ago. Was not even connected the the Full Blood Moon pack. As much as we thought it was a possibility. There was no evidence to prove it. Also it had been months since my parents were murdered.
But the one time I went for a run in the woods since I got here. I just happened to be alone.
It had been quiet since the attack. Kai figured it was an isolated attack. And I really need to let my wolf out.
Today Kai had a meeting, some pack business to tend to that couldn't wait. He promised to talk to me about training after he got back.
I was letting Sky stretch her legs. When out of nowhere something hit me from the left side like a ton of bricks. Smashing me into a small bush and making me slide on to my side.
I rolled just in time to avoid a nasty kick to my already sore ribs and leapt to my feet, facing a man who smelled oddly of wolf, though he didn't belong to this pack, or if he did, I had never seen him before. This one snarled and had a gleam in his eye that said he loved the violence he was about to inflict on me, plus a golden sheen that overlaid his eyes, indicating his wolf was close to the surface.
Shit. Realizing I was pass the borderline. I have to get to the other side of the creek.
I rolled over and hopped up quickly.
The man grabbed me around my body, just like he could read that I was about to take off running. Trapping my arms against my sides and pushing me forward. I continued forward, surprising the guy until he was slightly off balance. Then I abruptly shifted to human form and flung back my head, connecting with his nose. Blood spurted, and he yelled, his hands reflexively releasing me. I whirled and aiming a kick to his groin but he is already on the ground. So I take off. Over the creek and into the tree line I scream out in my head and with my mouth. "Help a rogue! I'm being attacked."
I'm trying to shift back so I can run faster. When something grabs my leg. And started dragging me backwards.
Then I felt something hot dig into me. It burned like fire. I tried to scream again but the scream was stuck in my throat. Silent tears fell.
The man is talking, better yet he is yell at me but all I can see is his angry face as he stands above me.
I look down to see that I am laying in a pool of blood. My hands come up to realize that it is my own. There is wolf next to me. The one that I'm pretty sure I broke his face has shifted back into human form and it's a female. But she is no longer moving I heard her gasping for air. But no sound is coming out of her mouth. The tall man next to her is crying.
All at once a wolf plows into the guy screaming at me and I feel myself being lifted off the ground.
In the distance I can heard a buzzing sound. But the only words breaking through the noise was, Kai our Luna is hurt. Then everything went black.
I wake to a roar that shakes the ground. 3 giant half beasts are tearing the last of the six wolves into pieces. Jax's voice rings out. Kill all but one of them. And burn the pieces. No survivors. I turn and Jax's comes so close to my face. "Run! I have the doctor waiting I can smell death on her. I can't lose my mate." Everything is whirling past me. Then a van pulls up to us at the gravel road but from the whimper that came from the warrior chest. I can tell it's not one of the pack's. I fall to the ground as they shoot him. The guys dressed in all black snatches me up and throw me into the back of the van. Hurry and stop the bleeding before Alpha Kyle will kill us.
After finishing up secure the prisoner.

Kai POV

I takeoff and direction of the pack hospital. I smell her but something is off I can feel the fear through the mindlink.
"Wtf Jaime have you made it to the pack hospital yet." I reach out and feel for his bond link. Feeling nothing. It's like he has went to sleep. Or he is weak. I follow their scent and come across Jaime. Shocked look still on his face and a bullet between his eyes. Skid marks on the road indicating whoever took my mate was in a hurry. Fuck!
I call out to patrol. Warriors on the Eastern border are in pursue of a white cargo van. But whoever it is driving. Is driving like he is auditioning for NASCAR. And then they were gone. They lost the van on the highway.
I call for back up. We carry Jaime home. The one casualty in today's fight. I asked Lena to go to his parents. Joan meets me at the front door.
"Please tell me you have my sister. That she's okay? Please please please." She cries out as she collapses into Tyee's arms. Crying as if she has lost it. One of the omegas is a nurse at the hospital. She gives her something to calmer and Tyee puts her to bed.
I call for my Beta, my Gamma, my top Omega to meet me at my office.
"Someone took our future Luna, my mate." I yell. Smashing my fists into the desk. "She is out there bleeding. We need to find her. Does anybody know anything?"
My Gamma is the first to speak up. "I can only think of one or two people who might do this. Let's first start with her parents killers. All signs lead to the Alpha or the members who murdered her parents.
My bet is on the Alpha. He couldn't have her mother. So he is trying to have the daughter. The oldest of the two girls wouldn't have the curse. And he would know that since he had her mother hexed."
"Shit you are right."
"As much as I hate to say this. We need to call the Royal Council. Alpha against Alpha with a mate involved the council needs to be here."
"And men rest assure that I will take accountability for all lives lost today. It was in the effort to protect my mate. No harm shall come to you, you did not break any laws today."
