"......we found him dead......didn't know what to do......he was already killed.....so sorry....if there's anything we could do....."

joong-ki closed his eyes. "please tell me this is all a joke." he said. "tell me that i'm dreaming."

"you're not dreaming, sir." one of the police officers said. "your brother was really killed, and we're so sorry. if there's anything we can do-"

"yes yes, i'll tell you." joong-ki said. "thank you for informing me. i will arrange the funeral and everything with a vicar i know, thank you."

he closed the door, then put the security chain back in its place. then he dropped on the floor, clutching his shirt.

he's dead. joong-ki thought to himself. my brother is dead.

joong-ki tried to think who would want to kill his only brother, song moon-hyuk, but he couldn't think of anyone. why had they killed him anyway? he was just a normal attorney, why would they murder him all of a sudden?

he went to his room and called the vicar. the vicar sounded upset and told him that he would arrange the funeral right away. joong-ki thanked him, then hung up.

he felt like telling someone what had happened to him, someone who would understand. he put on his coat and grabbed his keys, then went out of his house and started walking towards a particular direction.

when he reached his destination, he knocked on the door. a few minutes later, someone opened the door, and joong-ki found himself face to face with a particular person. the moment he saw him, he felt weak again, and he started breathing heavily, then he almost fell down on the doorstep.

"j-joong-ki?" taecyeon said, clutching him by his arm. "joong-ki! can you hear me?"

"y-yeah." joong-ki croaked, sounding weak.

taecyeon took him to his bedroom and laid him carefully on his bed. "are you sure you're okay?" taecyeon asked, a note of concern in his voice. "can i get you anything?"

"no, j-just w-water, please." joong-ki croaked again.

minutes later, joong-ki was sipping water while sniffing. taecyeon remained patient and let him feel a bit better, then he asked, "so what brings you here today?"

"t-the police came a while ago." joong-ki said. "they said that my brother died, someone killed him. he was found dead in a warehouse. his name was song moon-hyuk, but....i-i lost him. i lost my brother."

now normally someone would have felt sorry for someone losing their brother, the only relative they had. but taecyeon didn't. he didn't even feel sorry, he didn't feel any sympathy for joong-ki, although he tried to hide it by saying, "oh, i'm so sorry joong-ki, it must be really heartbreaking for you."

"y-yeah." joong-ki said. "thats why i came here. i t-thought that coming here would perhaps comfort me, y'know."

"so did it?" taecyeon asked.

"y-yeah, it did, thank you so much."

taecyeon smiled. "i'll get you some more water."

taecyeon went to the kitchen and grabbed a glass from the cabinet. he filled it with water and put it down on the kitchen counter. then he smirked, whispering to himself.

"never knew that the murderer of your own brother would comfort you." he whispered to himself. he even felt safe, because he knew that no one would be able to catch him.

but what he didn't know was that joong-ki was right at the kitchen door, and he had heard everything that taecyeon had said.
