Leah met me by her house for the third day in a row, once again bringing me a coffee that I could never finish despite how hard I tried. It was simply too strong for my liking but something told me an artist like Leah was not a huge fan of tea.
It took me months of walking by every morning and standing by the lake for her to finally realize that I was waiting for her to come and join me for a morning chat. I probably could have just knocked on her door but that seemed extremely stressful and I would hate to wake her if she was still sleeping.
"You do get up really early Elliot, and you're already dressed? I don't know how you can manage life like this." She mumbled, motioning to the fact that she was still in her pajamas and her hair wasn't in its usual braid. I still found that she looked enchanting but I don't think she'd agree.
"I don't mind it. I enjoy the quiet mornings." I replied, giving her a soft smile.
"But you don't have any kind of set hours for work. It should be so easy for you to just do whatever you want. Sleep all day, party all night. Stuff like that. Live a little."
I looked away so that she wouldn't see me wince. While Leah was incredibly calm and beautiful, she seemed to be so in her own world that she didn't notice much about others, like the fact that I really dislike coffee and have said it a few times.
I understood the fact that people believed writing came easily to me, but in reality, I hadn't had any inspiration in months now and it was starting to bug me more than usual.
Sometimes being around Leah helped, but that help seemed to be happening less and less.
"You're right, I should adjust my sle-."
I was interrupted by someone calling Leah's name and unfortunately, it was a voice I knew too well.
The shorter purple haired girl was running across the grass faster than I think I'd ever seen anyone run with her two bodyguards trailing behind her.
Abigail was the largest ball of energy I'd ever seen, despite her size, she was definitely an interesting person.
Sam and Sebastian weren't far behind her. The two boys were never seen apart, if they weren't together, they were locked in their bedrooms and sometimes Abigail tagged along.
Leah seemed just as surprised to see them this early as I did. She gently set down her mug somewhere on the dock and stood to go meet her friend.
"Is everything okay? Gosh Abby, you're still in your pajamas."
If Leah was anything to our odd group of friends, she was the mom.
"So are you."
"No, I have a bra on and at least I'm still at home." Leah argued.
Then, she glanced up at the boys and frowned. Sam was wearing only a pair of pajama pants and he was extremely shirtless. Seb looked like he'd tried to throw something on as quickly as possible but his outfit ended up consisting of boxers and a hoodie.
"My god, what was so important that you had to drag them out of bed?" I asked.
A smile flew to Abigail's face.
"I met someone this morning."
She paused, waiting for our oohs and aahs of excitement but none of us were really in the mood to give her any.
"Okay, fine. There's a new farmer in town and he is the hottest person I have ever seen in my life."
Sam looked like he wanted to cry, he'd lost at least another three hours of sleep. I was sure Seb could fall back asleep at any moment but that didn't mean he wasn't annoyed.
