*Inside the hospital*
The country's number one hospital Eura City Hospital was in turmoil. Nurses and doctors were running here and there. The country's best surgeons were summoned to treat her. They had to rush her to the operation theatre because her condition was worsening with every passing second and she needed immediate aid.
Outside the operation theatre, the four people, the only people who cared about her, were present. A man was pacing while looking down at the hospital floor tiles with his puffy eyes like he was waiting for them to crack open and swallow him whole. He was blaming himself for what she was going through. 'She did not deserve this but I couldn't save her' was the constant thought running in his mind.
But he was not the only one blaming himself. Everyone present there was doing precisely the same.
However, only one of them was able to maintain her composure as she did every time, everybody knew the only person she would ever show her emotions to was her granddaughter, who was currently in the middle of an operation.
The old lady was sitting on the bench expressionless, the guilt of failing to protect her granddaughter and fear of losing her for eternity eating her up, no one could tell but Mrs Lilah Desai was barely holding it up.
beside her was a lady who had finally passed out after wailing her heart out and at last, a secretary was standing near them quietly sniffling and trying to stay strong like he always did. No one would believe that Country A's bigshots, capable of ruining people's lives in just a snap, would be agonising in the hospital, so helpless, so hopelessly vulnerable. The old lady suddenly felt the tension in the atmosphere and quietly ordered her secretary to move the lady exhaustedly sleeping in her lap to be moved to a different room and her orders were quickly followed.
Mrs Lilah called her secretary "Rao, go and check the situation outside, you know how to handle the reporters."
Rao sniffled and nodded "Yes ma'am." he turned to leave but she called him
"Wait" She forwarded her handkerchief to him "Khillain Rao, I expect you to pull yourself together and get back to work immediately.. Also, call Kriti to help you, That will also help you to get distracted." She mumbled the last part but he heard it. He gratefully accepted the handkerchief and gave a small smile. She cared for very few people and being one of those few made him feel woozy. He left the place ready to get on his next mission filled with new energy! The man who was pacing all this time finally stopped and came near the old lady
"You promised me.." he whispered, looking down at her with his sharp, condemning gaze. The old lady flinches when she hears him speak for the first time since he arrived at the scene, his voice hoarse, when was the last time that kid cried she asked herself and couldn't seem to recall, well she can't blame him when she was on the urge of crying herself...
She merely glanced at him one time before looking away, avoiding his eyes filled with anger, exhaustion, helplessness, and most of all disgust.
"You promised me you'd protect her, yet you let this happen.. You knew he was not the one for her.. You knew she was suffering every day and you still didn't do anything.. You just sat there watching.. You hid her from me.. You told me she was happy for Merlin's sake..!! Why did you do that!??"
Silence
He fell on his knees and begged the lady
"Tell me, Pleas-"
That took all to sever the thin thread holding her together, she broke down
"It was Rudra Seth."
"She had stopped talking to me when I opposed their relationship. I tried to explain to her that he was not the one for her b-but.. But she didn't listen to me. She moved out last y- year say- saying I suffocated her. I couldn't stop her.. I am sorry." She went on and explained everything that had taken place since he left and everything that happened in the last 3 years.
The man quietly listened to her "Hah." he sighed as he closed his eyes and pinched the tip of his nose.Anger flared in his eyes when he opened them, his jaw clenched as he growled.
"I will kill that Bastard." He stood up and moved towards the hospital's back door."Would Aysel like that?" Mrs Desai protested.
He paused and yelled as he turned around "And so you are letting him be? SERIOUSLY MRS LILAH DESAI YOU MUST BE OUT OF YOUR FUCKUNG BRAINS!"
She took a deep breath,
"No, I am not out of my damn brains thanks to Merlin, but you ARE. Your rage might be justified while doing business but don't raise your voice in front of me. As for letting him be? Hah! Not even in his dreams but I want Aysel to take her revenge the way she wants. You know how stubborn she can be... after her rehab let her decide how she wants to get her revenge" She replied almost panting containing her fury and frustration.Hearing this he stopped. She was right, this was her revenge. She had the right to choose how to deal with that bastard. "I am going out to get a breather, Ah... yes and I will send someone inside for you, you can go home and rest a bit. I will be staying here and will visit you tonight to give you updates on her condition. And please no arguments right now old lady, Just go home we can't have both of you in the hospital at the same time" he turned around to leave but paused as if he read what she was going to say next "And before you ask me if I am letting Isra stay here, no, She is going to the main mansion today." saying this he left.
All Mrs Lilah could do was sigh, She knew it was her fault that she hid things from him, but that didn't mean she didn't care for her only grandchild, well, at least the only one she acknowledged to be her grandchild. When she'd taken Asyel under her wings she'd sworn to protect her, to never let her get devoured by the darkness again when it took all she could do and more to get her out of there. And now she was here again, she'd almost lost her child today, again.
How could she stay here and do nothing?
She took out her phone and dialled Khillian and he picked up in one ring "Pull out all our shares from every business Seth's are investing." hearing the confirmation she hung up.
From the first day, she had seen them together, she didn't like this Rudra guy one bit and tried to convince Aysel to stop hanging out with him but Aysel was hell-bent on being with him. Just after two months, this 'hanging out' scene changed into the 'He's the one for me, I am in love scene and the arguments between this granny - granddaughter duo became more and more frequent, to the point where Asyel decided it was finally time to move out because her grams 'suffocated' her and she did exactly that.It was not until very late that Aysel understood her suffocating granny was correct about this d*ckhead Rudra.
