The fire eventually died down. Nothing could be said as Ham and Grits wept for the loss of their house, siblings, and mother. "I am so sorry.", said Blue Bell. "It's going to be alright..." "What!?", said Jak. "You think after these two children witnessed their house burn down, you can tell them 'Its all good!' They literally just lost everything important to them!" Obviously, the discussion of how Ham and Grits lost their house and family made them feel even worse. They went through the ruble of their house and looked to see if they found anything. Books, toys, chairs.... their Mom. But instead, they found a diary, and opened it to find it was their mother's. Day 17 with my new children: Things are going great! Ham has just said his first word! He said 'Momma'! I love my two new babies! They skipped ahead to day 100. Grits just made a castle out of building blocks. Even though Ham knocked it over, he said he was sorry. My children are so grown up! They skipped to the last page, written with a very shaky hand. I can't write, this might be the last time I use my diary. My new children have run off, and a stalking feeling hovers over my home. We must leave this shoe, but I can't write were we're going, but Ham & Grits, please know that even if you never find this, aye well forever love you. Their mothers use of bad spelling was quite strange, but they knew exactly what she meant. But before they told the others, they heard Jak say, "...and GET OVER IT!"
