Oakley Potter
Today is the day of the third and final task of the Triwizard Tournament. This one scares me. I haven't had time to ask anyone what it is or what were doing.
Cedric says he isn't nervous because the other two tasks weren't as hard as we thought it would be. So I guess we'll have to find out.
We are down in front of the stands, all of us contestants are. I could see Draco sitting in about the 4th row screaming and has his arm up in the air. Sitting next to his two annoying goons.
But oh did he look gorgeous. His platinum blonde hair layed out on his head, his smile beaming. Merlin he's a pretty boy.
"Silence!!" Dumbledore screamed out. Everyone sitting down and the music stoped.
"Earlier today, Professor Moody placed the Triwizard Cup deep within the maze. Only he knows its exact position." He hollered.
"Now as Mr. Diggory and Mrs. Potter, tied for first position, they will be the first to enter the maze, followed by Mr. Krum then Miss Delacour." He spoke.
"First person to touch the cup, will be the winner. I've instructed the staff to patrol the perimeter. Should any contestant wish to withdraw from the task, he or she need only to send up red sparks with their wand."
"Contestants. Gather round, quickly! In the maze, you'll find no dragons or creatures of the deep, instead you'll face something even more challenging." He whispered to us all. He sounded like he was trying to warn us.
"You see, people change in the maze, find the cup if you can but be very wary, you could lose your self along the way." He spoke. My nerves are cracked up now. I can feel my skin crawling against me.
"Champions, prepare yourselves."
Me and Cedric walked over to separate entrances, we gave each other a glance and a nod of approval.
"On the count of three." He yelled.
"One" A cannon went off. As Dumbledore shook his head.
And off we went. The maze was tall, scary even. It was quite dark to be honest. As I glanced back behind me, the maze hollowed in to where I couldn't get back out if I wanted too. It was absolutely huge.
As I walked through I could hear footsteps coming from another tunnel. I could almost tell it was human not anything else.
I started sprinting now. Desperate to get this over with. As I ran, the bush caved in behind me almost like it was chasing me. Nearly making me topple over. It was suffocating. Intoxicating almost.
It chased me. Clear through the maze. I hadn't seen or heard anyone since the footsteps. I was completely and utterly alone. I dashed left then right, right then left. Anywhere that felt right.
After I would say, 10 minutes of rummaging through the bush, I could hear enchanting. Like a magic shimmer type sound. Then I see it. The Triwizard cup.
I ran, ran towards it. The bush was closing in so tight and sufficient that it was extremely difficult to push through it all. Leaves smacking me in the face, branches trying to trip me over my own feet. It didn't want me to get that cup. But I was determined.
I was met with Cedric. He was racing towards it. Faster than I was. I saw him shoot a spell at another contestant. The other guy looked like a ghost like he was in a trance. But Cedric kept going without another look.
We tackled through the brush to the cup. Pushes and shoves all the way there. He was eager enough to where he would push his own friend just to get there. I guess it made sense, everyone made it a bigger deal than I made it out too be. But thats mostly because I didn't even want to be in it, let alone I still don't know why my name was in the cup in the first place.
