Trilochan had been looking for wedding proposals for Som for quite a time now. Being the zamindars meant great proposals. He had always wanted to throw a lavish wedding for his eldest nephew but all those dreams were shattered when he returned one midnight with his bride along. He had put all his efforts into selecting a girl perfect for Som, Aparna. She came from a wealthy family and good status. She would make him the perfect daughter-in-law.
Aparijita, on the other hand, had been locked into her room as her younger brother had overheard the conversation from last night. He had ratted her out to her father who had been enraged on learning that her daughter had been in love with Som all this time. She was locked till the family which was coming to see her is here. Her eyes were red and swollen from all the crying, and the connection of the telephone had been cut off in her room. She had no way of contacting him now.
The day passed as evening came and they were here. Her mother had made her ready in a purple saree with gajra in her hair. Her eyes seemed emotionless even when they were lined up with kohl, walking like an animated doll she was made to sit in front of the family.
The boy she was supposed to marry was twenty-five years old. Nothing seemed wrong with him except that he was not Somnath. The boy she truly loved. He had been stealing little glances of Aparijita as she sat like a mannequin.
Kaka abhi aap Som ki padhai toh puri hone dijiye
Toh hum konsa uski padhai rokne wale hain. Bahu aaegi toh ussey bhi asaani hi hogi.
Asaani kaise hogi kaka. Zara sochiye na.

Somnath had worried look on his face as he sat on the corner of his bed holding his head in his hands. Bondita in her course of the day as she passed through his room, she saw him upset. Her motherly instinct clouded her as she stepped into his room.
Kya hua dada. Koi pareshaani hai kya.
She asked him as she sat down on her knees in front of him.
Nahi Boudi.
Pakka na?
She asked to reassure but playfully but she saw a tear slide out of the corner of his eye.
Kuch toh baat hai Dada. Apni boudi ko nahi batayenge.
Mai kisi...kisise pyaar karta hun boudi. Mai kisi aur se shaadi nahi kar sakta.
Her lips formed a smile as her eyes shined.
Apne chupke chupke mere liye behen bhi dhundh li. Ghar kyun nahi laye abhi tak?
This made the mood lighter as he chuckled at her statement.
Baba usse swikar nahi karenge.
Aisa Kyun?
Woh Mukherji parivar se hai.
Her mind clicked. The same Mukherji who had deceived his Sasurji. How would the family accept the daughter of a fraud? Her kaka sasurji who was especially against the relation of a boy and girl before marriage would definitely frown upon this.
Aaj usse ladki wale dekhne aa rahe hai.
Aap pyaar karte hain na usse?
He did love her with all of himself. He could do anything to have her. He needed her. So, yes he did love her.
Toh jaiye aur bachaiye apne pyaar ko. Har kisi ko pyaar naseeb nahi hota. Aap khushnaseeb to jaiye.
Thankyou boudi. You are the best.
He ran out of the room taking his coat and giving a quick hug to Bondita. She now had to focus on the task at hand, making her Kaka Sasur ji understand.

Somnath had opened the door of her house with a bang. There she sat all decked up in front of the family. She had looked up as a smile marred her face and he started walking towards her. He took hold of her hand as he started to leave with her when her father stopped him.
Apko kya lagta hai aap kaha jaa rahe hain?
Hum ek doosre se pyaar karte hain aur vivaah karna chahte hai.
Aisa nahi ho sakta. Binoy aur hum rishtedaar nahi ho sakte.
If Somnath has inherited something from his father, it was his short temperament. He was trying hard not to lose it. Aparajita's touch had calmed him as he looked at her and she nodded and they both walked out leaving behind her fuming father. All they had was each other. Her father had once again stopped them.
If you step out of this door you will be dead for me.
It was hard for her to choose between the love of her life and her father but it was not worth an unhappy marriage. She chose love. They had stopped at the nearest temple and had gotten married.

Kaka Sasurji sochiye toh aap nahi chahenge ki Som Dada khush rahe.
Aisa hum bhala kyun nahi chehenge Bahu.
Toh maan jaiye na shaadi ke liye, woh pyaar karte hai Aparijita se.
Par uske baba ne toh Binoy ko dhokha diya hai. Hum maan bhi jaaye toh woh nahi maanega.
Woh sab uske baba ne kiya tha, Aparijita ne nahi. Woh bhi Dada ki tarah doctor banana chahti hai par uske baba waise hi hain jaise tab the jab unhone aapko dhokha diya tha.
Trilochan no doubt had always like Aparijita for Som but after her father had deceived their family it slowly faded away but after this conversation he realized that he had still considered her as his daughter. His eyes filled with tears as he nodded a yes.
Toh taiyaar ho jaiye, chhoti bahu aa rahi aaj apki.
Bondita had been running all over the house preparing it for the welcome of the newly wed as the evening came and the horn of the jeep was heard. They were here. Hand in hand with garlands around their neck.
Trilochan and Bihari where in the back as he wiped his happy tears.
Tum bhaiyon ne aise bahu lane ki thaan rakhi hai kya. Hume ek shaadi toh dhoom dhaam se karne do.
Soon everybody was smiling as Somnath got his happily ever after.
