19. Hunter

I wake with a gasp reaching for my knife beneath my pillow. Only to realize it was a nightmare.

I replace the knife and swing my legs to the side of the bed. Placing my arms on my knees , I run a hand through my sweat soaked hair.

The nightmares are getting worse. Dreaming of her , and thinking the worse things . It's not helping the atmosphere in the ship. I fear Cross is about to snap at any moment.

That's when I hear a cry coming from across the hall. One of the twins is up and hungry from the sounds of it.

I move towards the door , quickly going to the kitchen to make a bottle. Only to find Cross their already making one.

" Crosshairs? It's my turn to get up with them."

He just turns to look at me  and shrugs.

" I was already up Hunter no sense in waking you."

I see the black smudges beneath his eyes and ask
" When's the last time you slept?"

He looks back at me with weary eyes.
" A week ago."

My eyes widen at that admission. I move towards him and place a hand on his shoulder.

" We'll find her Cross. I promise. No since in making yourself sick over it. She wouldn't want that."

He rubs a hand across his stubble covered jaw and says
" I'm having nightmares Hunter. Dreaming of her escaping and somehow being in....."

" A horrible crash." I finish
His eyes widen at that.
" Your having them too? How can that be?"

I grab the finished milk and say " I think it may have something to do with the bond. And I fear we are dreaming about her memories."

I walk towards where the crying was coming from.
When I walk into their room I see that it's Cass crying and Rory is looking around wide eyed . I smile down at them , then reach for Cassian.

" Hey big guy... what's wrong?"
He quiets down for a little bit and sniffles . I pat his back and move towards the rocking chair. Settling down, I grab the bottle and press it against his lips.

He immediately latches on and begins to hum. I smile at the sound.

" They are growing so fast."

I look up to see Cross leaning over the crib , smiling down at Rory.

She smiles up at him and begins to make cooing noises.

Reaching for her he gentle lifts her into his arms.

" I didn't realize what a blessing it was when we were accidentally married to Zara. We have been given so much Hunter. And we didn't even realize it at the time."

I nod my head at him. He begins to hum an old lullaby to get Rory back to sleep . She yawns and within minutes she's out again.

I pull the empty bottle from Cass and place him on my shoulder to burp him.

He burps a couple of times then he's fast asleep.

Just then an alert begins to sound . " Hunter , Crosshairs you better get up here."

We both quickly move to the cockpit.

When we get there , Echo looks at us and smiles.
" This just came across our private channels."

He plays the message and that Pirate from the bar a few months ago.

" Greetings Mates. My names Captain Killian Jones and I believe I've found something that belongs to you. Her name is Zara Stormchaser. Now I'm not asking for anything in return . This was a favor I owed to the Lass. But I must warn ye......."

I cut it off and look to Echo.
" He give any coordinates?"

He nods and puts in the coordinates.
I look to Crosshairs and place a hand on his shoulder.
" Let's go get our wife."
