It was Sirius. I blushed, beet red. James hid his face from my view.
"Er... Morning," he said, uncomfortably. "I...er...didn't realise you were up..."
"Obviously," Sirius said, pointedly, and straight-faced, but his eyes gave away that he was this close to bursting out laughing.
"Yeah," James said, awkwardly. I inhaled, and decided to break the tension.
"Shut up and laugh if you're going to, Sirius!" I said, rolling my eyes at him. He gave me a look of 'I-wasn't-going-to-laugh'. Then, he burst out laughing, hysterically. James still looked extremely embarrassed. Poor James. Remus and Peter appeared down the boys' dormitories staircase, Remus looking bemused.
"Good morning, Padfoot," he said, inquisitively.
"Morning, Moony," replied Sirius, recovering from his fit of bark-like laughter, grinning broadly, with a tone suggesting he had just won a Tony (a Tony is the award for professional theatre, like an Oscar is for film).
"What's going on?" Peter asked, confused.
"Nothing, Wormtail," James said, attempting a dismissive attitude.
"I think it might be more than nothing," Sirius said, slowly.
"Shut it, Padfoot, please," James said, still sitting uncomfortably on the couch. Some Gryffindors entered the portrait hole, and immediately stopped talking, as if the atmosphere has been effected by our embarrassment. Just keep walking! Go up to your dorms, please. I silently begged the group of students who had hesitated, staring at us.
"Wouldn't dream of it, Prongs, mate," Sirius said, obviously enjoying himself. He turned to Remus and Peter, and I saw that now Mary and Marlene along with some third and fifth year girls had made their way down to the common room, my friends were watching Sirius, frowning slightly. "You see," Sirius continued. "Prongs here--"
"Was having a private conversation, Black, which I am sure doesn't need to be broadcast to all of Gryffindor tower," Marlene interjected, emphasising his surname menacingly. She grabbed the sleeve of his black Gryffindor robes, and dragged him toward the portrait hole.
"Back to your knitting, everyone!" She growled, and left, accompanied by Sirius. Mary looked at me, I nodded, and she followed Marlene out.
"You okay?" I asked James, who was still hiding his face from view.
"Er... Yeah, of course. Breakfast?" I could tell he wanted to change the subject.
"Starving," I replied, and we left Gryffindor Tower together.
Marlene was still shooting Sirius dirty looks as James and I sat down. After throwing him another scathing expression, she smiled at us.
"Well, good morning!" A sly look entered her eyes, and her voice because more casual, and quieter. "Not to seem like I had alterer motives, but--"
"Oh no," I muttered to James. I could totally tell what was coming. Marlene rolled her eyes, but didn't break from talking.
"--since I just saved you from Sirius telling Gryffindor Tower what was going on, mightn't I be able to ask: what was that about?"
"Er... Yeah, well, thanks for that. I...I-- Well, you see..." I stalled. "James! I bet you'd love to tell Marlene happened!" James looked appalled that I'd sentence him to this horrible fate. I signed, resigned. "Fine. Well, nothing actually happened. We just almost...er...--"
"Prongs and Evans almost kissed! Can you believe it?" Sirius exploded. Marlene, annoyed, punched him in the shoulder.

Hi!I have been super bad about updating... Bad Ginny! I'm sorry. I was in a play that performed two weeks ago, and if anyone knows about the last three-ish weeks before an acting performance, you'll understand--it's crazy hectic! Also, my aunt has been in town and is staying with us, because she has a temporary job here, I've been writing a script, and finals are coming up (eek!), so I've been more busy than usual. Now that my spring theatre is done, I should have more time on my hands!
More importantly, I wanted to thank all you amazing people again for READING this! Thank you SO, SO much! I'm at 900 views--900!! What?!?!?! That's just... I'm speechless. It's crazy! Just thank you so much for all your support with this book so far!
I'm curious, do any of you guys act in theatre--or films? Comment if you want to! :)
Love you guys!!
-Ginny
