Double Herbology ended without much event (which is saying something, because Potter is in that class). We had a free period before dinner, so I went to the library with Mary to study.

"Let's start this Herbology diagram of Venomous Tentactula," I suggested, pulling out a roll of parchment. "And one roll of parchment advising how best to obtain the seeds." We set to work in a quiet corner of the library. I loved the Hogwarts library. The floor to ceiling bookcases, and on them more books then I could read in a lifetime. Some people didn't like the musty smell of old books, I liked it, but probably just because it reminded me of Hogwarts.

I ate dinner quickly, because I had Prefect duty afterwards. James wasn't at dinner, but all that meant was he was probably in detention, and would only be allowed out for the end of dinner. That meant I wouldn't see him, so I wasn't complaining! I bid goodbye to Marlene and Mary and walked up to the fifth floor, which is quite a walk, let me tell you! Especially since the staircase going from the third to fourth floor decided to change when I was halfway up it. The detour I took didn't help the stitch in my chest. I was glad when I reached my destination.

"Hi, Remus!" I said, waving to him as I approached. Remus Lupin was the other sixth year Gryffindor Prefect.

"Hello, Lily!" We had barely set off down the corridor we were patrolling, when I head a shout of  "Impedimenta!" through a tapestry, and glanced at Remus before going through. To no surprise, I saw Potter holding a book, surrounded by about fifteen people, and a Slytherin I recognized to be Severus attempting to get at him, but prevented my James's spell. I forced my way through the people.

"I wonder what's written in Snevillus's diary?" James was saying to Sirius, who was holding a book, and I raised my wand, pointed it at him over someone's shoulder and said,

"Expelliarmus!" James flew back into the wall, and I caught the book he had had in his hand. Sirius spun around. Potter got up massaging his head. I stepped into view with Remus, and muttered, "Finite Incantatum," pointing at the shield created by Potter's spell. I tossed the book in Severus's direction. He didn't bother saying thank you. "20 points from Gryffindor," I  shot at James. "No fighting in the corridors."

"Evans! You wouldn't take points from your own house!" James replied, flabbergasted.

"I just did. And you're coming to Professor McGonagall unless you feel like explaining yourselves, the two of you!" Sirius didn't speak, and James couldn't come up with anything, either. "Alright," I turned to address the people still remaining in the corridor. "Don't you all have a free period? Go study!" They left. "Okay, come on, Potter, Black." I marched toward the tapestry, they looked at Remus for help.

"I'm sorry, but Lily's right," Remus told them, resignedly. They sighed in unison and followed us to McGonagall's office. James and Sirius kept trying to get out of it the whole way there. Another reason I will never even consider going out with Potter--like I needed another. We left them with McGonagall, James at least had the decency to stare at his shoes, and at least pretend to be ashamed. He's impossible.

Hi!

I know this chapter was quite a bit shorter, but I felt it was a good stopping point.

Make sure to tell me what you think!
