James avoided Sirius for the rest of that day. Later that week, Sirius had apologised to his best friend. Now they were practising Quidditch non-stop, what with the weather warming up. Black boots squelched in the early spring mud as we made our way across the grounds toward the castle from Care of Magical Creatures class. Today was the first Quidditch match of the season, and James and Sirius weren't about to pass up an opportunity to practise. It was five minutes after our last class was dismissed, and their scarlet-clad figures could already be seen soaring around the pitch. I sighed, then laughed to myself.

"Why are you so...happy?" Marlene asked, disgusted. She had been given detention last night, and had been in a bad mood ever since.

"Let the girl be happy if she wants to be!" Mary interjected, punching Marlene playfully in the shoulder. Marlene glared at her, and Mary rolled her eyes. "I think you're in love, Lily," she added in a sing-song whisper. This caused me to glare at her as well.

The whistle blew, "Gryffindor Wins!" The stands erupted. The cheers and whoops on my side of the stands much drown out the booing.

"Yes! Go Gryffindor!" I shouted with the crowd. Someone started up a chant of: "Go, go Gryffindor! Go, go Gryffindor!" And I joined in. About ten minutes later, people started filing out of the stands. When I reached the bottom step, I turned to my friends.

"You guys can go on without me, I think I'm going to meet James, if that's okay with you!" I said, smiling. They gave their consent, and Marlene seemed much cheered up by the intense game, as she grinned at me before leaving. I walked slowly, wanting to give James time to change before I arrived. I seemed to have timed it well, for I hadn't waited but a minute outside before James exited the locker rooms.

"Hey, you," he said, grinning, upon seeing me.

"Hello, good game!" I complimented, and I took his hand in mine. "That was a really spectacular dive at the end, there." His grin broadened.

"Thanks, Lil," he said, "It was just something I've been practising with Sirius." Then he stopped talking abruptly, probably remembering when Sirius had barged in on us about to, well...kiss, I think.

"Well, you seem to have perfected it," I commented matter-of-factly, acting as if I couldn't tell James had stopped himself talking.

"Thanks, er... Lily? I--" James swallowed.

"Yeah? What's wrong?" I asked, turning around, since he had stopped walking. James couldn't seem to word what he was trying to say correctly. So, instead, he stepped toward me, brushed a lock of my red hair out of my eyes. With the same motion, he tilted my face up towards his. The sun's last rays were reflected in James's hazel eyes. I only then realised how close we were. Our faces were only about six inches apart, and even that was mainly because of his significantly taller height.

"Nothing's wrong," he said, just above a whisper. He didn't take his hand from my jaw. He came closer to me, and we were almost touching. He studied my eyes, and then leaned closer toward my face. I tilted my head upwards to meet his, and I could feel the breath on my face before he kissed me. There wasn't anyone to interrupt us, safely out-of-view behind the greenhouses. I kissed him back, and I could feel his untidy, windswept jet black hair on my forehead. He put his arm around my waist to bring me closer. I hoped it never ended, because you know they speak of feeling sparks when you kiss someone? This was a full blown wildfire.

Heyyy! So, a couple things!

First off... What do think of their first KISS?!? Okay, I'm pretty bad at romance. I've never been very good. I do feel rather proud of this, though, if I may. Then again that's compared to my other attempts... So, I'm always eager to hear some constructive criticism!

Second... 1k reads?!? Are you freaking Sirius?!? Thanks guys! Merlin, that is AMAZING! You know I love you guys, but I LOVE YOU GUYS! I've gotten so many really great comments on this book along with my others, so THANK YOU. You guys are absolutely, freakin' amazing!! :)

Also, I'm sorry to say, but this book may be coming to a close soon. I'm not sure how or when to wrap it up exactly, but I have another fanfic idea, and I'm excited for the next couple chapters of No Longer, and this book seems like it will have reached a good stopping point in two, maybe three chapters.

Thank you guys again, you are so wonderful.

-Miss Ginny Weasley signing off!

This chapter is dedicated to oceangrl234 for being so excited for their first kiss. (If you read this, Abby, update ROYAL PAINS!!! Please?) :)
