Chapter 31

Mathura, Dwapar Yuga

Jayant/ Duryodhana POV

I was standing in the bank of river Yamuna. But today, I was not alone. Priya was with me too. A couple of minutes ago, we had reached here on my motorcycle. We dismounted from it, and Priya stood still for a moment, holding my hand tightly. It seemed that the first ride on my motorcycle made a huge impression on her, though I was careful not to increase the speed over 40 kilometres per hour. In a moment, it changed into the locket again and went to my neck.

"Are you alright?" I asked her. She smiled at me and nodded affirmatively. I smiled too and went to the water. I took a dip in the calm, cool water then started chanting the Tandava. After finishing the chant, I came back on the riverbank, where my better half was waiting for me. I saw her standing there, with crossed hand and closed eyes. A few moments later, she opened her eyes, and I saw two drops of tear there. She quickly wiped them.

"Your Tandava always affects me. It feels like...I feel like I am losing myself in the ocean of your devotion."

"I am just a mere devotee." I said to her.

She did not say anything, just smiled. I smiled too. Her presence was enough to calm my turbulent mind. Then she asked me a question.

"Are you really going to talk to Subhadra?"

"Obviously I will. If I directly cancel the relation, then it will be an insult to both the Kuru and the Yadavas. I need to do it with proper...."

I couldn't finish my words because suddenly I found my lips blocked with two beautiful, rose petals like lips. It lasted a couple of seconds, when she left me, blushing furiously.

"I am sorry, Aryaputra. I couldn't control myself. According to the shashtras, one must wait for the night time for fulfilment of their fire of affection..."

She stopped mid sentence, her face became an 'O". Her eyes literally popped out from the sockets. She saw something behind my back which shocked her to her core. I tried to turn around, but before I could turn fully, I heard a sound. It was the sound of a chariot, whose horses were neighing loudly. I turned my head and saw an incredible scene.

A chariot was running with its full speed. On the chariot there were a couple, one man and one woman. They were at a distance from us, and both their faces were covered with clothes, so, we couldn't properly recognize them. But I could still see the bow on the man's shoulder, and the reins in the woman's hand.

What the bloody hell!

In a swift motion, my locket came to my hands, and in the next second, the motorcycle came in front of me. I jumped on it, and with one hand movement, Priya sat behind me, grabbing me tightly. The next moment saw us chasing the chariot. Though the chariot was running fast, but it was no comparison with the machine. The occupants of the chariot now saw us and they stopped. The man unmasked his face, and it was that exact moment Jayant understood that he messed up royally.

Why I was saying so? The answer was that on the chariot, under the mask, the face of the butter thief was looking at me, with a mocking smile in his lips. You see, Shri Krishna generally sported three types of smile. One was the type 'Bhuvana- Mohini', which meant that can mesmerize the entire world. The second was the 'I am omniscient' type smile. But on the rarest of rare occasions, one could experience the third type, which was 'Har-Jwalani', which meant that you could feel the mockery inside your bones, heart and soul. Now, I was experiencing that third category of smile. Luckily, it lasted for a mere fifteen seconds.
