Chapter 36

Mathura, Dwapar Yuga

Jayant/ Duryodhana POV

The morning breeze had a very soothing effect on human mind. Today I woke up a bit earlier and when I walked outside of the palace, it was still dark. When I reached I the bank of Yamuna, the darkness faded a bit, but the Surya Narayana still had a bit time to come out. I took a deep breath and took a dip in the cold water of Yamuna.

When I came out from the water, I saw the first light of morning, slowly fading the darkness. I closed my eyes, and chanted the Tandava with utmost devotion. Crucial times were coming towards us, and I need the strength of my mind to overcome it.

I opened my eyes and turned my back, only to find myself looking at a pair of deep, ocean like eyes. Sri Krishna was standing there, that 'Bhuvana-Mohini' smile playing in his lips.

"A beautiful day, isn't it Jayant?"

My eyebrows moved a bit. Was the supreme one came here just to talk about weather?

"Why not? The human mind needs distraction from all the problems in the world. Otherwise, your mind will consumed by fatigue, and it will crack down at the crucial moment."

I was silent, because I didn't have an answer. Well, no one could defeat him in a matter of logic.

"Why are you here with me and not with your friend?" I turned again and looked at the river. I felt his presence shifted behind me and then he stood beside me, looking at the river too.

"Well, there are some reasons behind it. Arjun is busy with his wife now, and I don't want to intrude. You all will leave for Hastinapur tomorrow, and I will miss all of you."

"You mean you will miss Arjun and Devi Subhadra, right?"

Shri Krishna looked at me. His smile changed from 'Bhuvana-Mohini' to 'Har-Jwalani' type for a second. Then it vanished completely from there.

"When I say 'all of you', I mean it fully. I consider you a friend of mine too, as much as you disagree with me. Your wife is a great woman, and you are very lucky to have her as your better half."

"You consider me as your friend? Sorry to interrupt you Vasudev, but if you think that..."

"You called me Vasudev! This is so soothing hearing it from you after constantly hearing the lifeless, soulless 'Sri Krishna' from you. Especially that 'Sri', it sounded so irritating after coming out from your mouth. Vasudev is quite better than that."

I was astonished! Was he seriously joking with me?

Both of us stood silent for a few minutes then suddenly the supreme one started laughing. Now I was literally irritated. But still I decided to be silent.

"Oh, you should have seen your face, Jayant! You look just like a child, who was denied a sweet."

"You are right Sri Krishna. I was denied a lot of things as a child. Let's leave this topic, please."

Sri Krishna looked at me. His face lost all amount of jest and became neutral.

"One day, you will understand everything, Jayant. One day, you will know the truth."
