~Amelia's POV~
The sun had long been absent from the horizon by the time we encountered the rest of the Scouts. I wondered how long it had been since we left that hellhole and I had been suffering with my injuries. It felt like a lifetime, but it had most likely only been a few hours. I couldn't complain too much though, the pain travelling along my nerves meant that I was still alive. Without my advanced healing abilities, I wasn't sure if that would have been the case. My wounds had clotted before we even left the cavern and the burns had gone from third degree to first, making them much more bearable. The bones, however, would take the longest. But only a day or two at most. It had been a close call, but I'd survived and was grateful that everyone else had also made it out alive.
"Erwin," Levi greeted with a stern tone. Levi had stayed by my side since we had gotten into the cart. I'd like to think that he was a bit worried about me because of how injured I was but, I would be lying to myself if I believed it. He was probably just annoyed that I managed to get myself hurt again.
"Is everyone alright?" Erwin inquired as he approached us on his horse.
"Amelia and Hange are our only casualties," Levi relayed to him.
Erwin's eyes scanned the two of us. "Seems like nothing too serious. Well done, everyone." Tell that to my broken and burnt limbs, I thought to myself. In reality, I wasn't annoyed at Erwin as he had bigger problems than two injured people who didn't have life-threatening injuries. There was a massive Titan headed towards one of the walls with no signs of stopping.
"I've got a whole slew of things to report, but first..." Levi trailed off, his eyes diverting to the Titan. Erwin had of course already noticed the huge thing but, it was now the Scouts' job to figure out what the hell to do with it.
"What is that Titan, and where did it come from?" Erwin questioned, trying to extract as much information as he could from Levi.
"It's a long story, but, that's Rod Reiss..." Levi trailed off. "I think we'll need your expertise on this one, Commander."
Erwin gave Levi a 'no shit' look and then remained silent for a few moments, collecting his thoughts. "Regardless, we don't have time to sit here and chat. Return to Wall Sina."
We all collectively gave him a look of surprise. Weren't we going to do anything about that Titan?
With a raised eyebrow, Levi questioned him. "You're going to let that big ass Titan crawl its way to the wall?"
Erwin turned around to face him. "To Orvud district, actually. That's most likely where it's headed."
Trying to wrack my brain as to why we weren't coming up with a plan to stop Rod Reiss' Titan, I kept my gaze hot on Erwin. His eyes met mine when he realised that I was looking at him. He flashed me a small smile, pulling the reigns on his horses and going to inform the rest of the soldiers to head to Orvud district. So Erwin did have a plan, then. It was at these moments that I wished I could read the minds of normal people to peek into that strange brain of his. It would be great if he could just let us know that he was concocting something and not leave us in the dark. Regardless, no one went after him to question him and instead, Hange started up another conversation.
"Since it's going to take a while for us to Wall Sina, how about someone explain to me exactly what happened in that cavern? Why did Rod Reiss want Eren and Amelia in the first place? I get Historia as she's his daughter..." Hange asked, stopping to wince from the pain for a second. "Tell me everything and in great detail, it will distract me from the pain."
And so, Eren and Historia elaborated on all of the events of the past day to them. Without sparing any detail. As I had actually lived it, I'd fallen asleep in the middle of it, only waking up to hear the end of it.
