A Hug

Moon lets go of my possibly broken wrist, and I start falling. Despite the fact the floor is made of a soft material, I know I might break something else at this height. I brace for impact, but instead, I get swooped back up again by Moon.

"What's the surprise look for? I would rather play with my prey first," Moon says, dangling me by my waist.

"Moon, this isn't like you!" I shout at him.

"Isn't like me?" He laughs loudly, scaring me even more. "This is the NEW me! This is what I was meant to be!" He swings me around, my vision turning fuzzy.

"Please, stop! I don't like this!" I muster, having no idea what to say to Moon, especially since he's suddenly become so violent.

He grabs on to my legs and I dangle upside down. "I never said you were going to have a blast, did I?" He asks me, spinning me around. The blood rushing to my head and all the spinning makes me lightheaded, and I feel like I'm about to pass out.

Then the lights turn back on...

"___!" I hear Sun say, and I'm gently lifted back up, being carried gently down to the ground. I can hear Sun's voice, frantic and worried and asking me questions, but it's too difficult for me to focus. My head pounds, the extra blood trying to free itself, and my wrist throbs with pain.

I hear other voices and footsteps rushing into the daycare, and then I'm being forcefully placed on a stretcher. I hear Sun shouting for me, but It's difficult to pay attention.

"It's not his fault..." I whisper before losing consciousness.

"She needs to be x-rayed!"

"We gotta get her to the hospital!"

"She'll be fine! Just put a cast on it!"

I open my eyes, laying down on one of the beds in the emergency aid room. The lights are bright, making me squint my eyes as they adjust.

I sit up and look around the room, and as I expected, it's empty. There isn't a clock in here, so I have no idea what time it is. I look down at my wrist, which now has a cast on it.

Sun...

I need to find him. I quickly jump out of the bed, shortly after my vision going dark and becoming light headed. After my mind clearing and rebalancing, I run out of the med bay and race over to the maintenance, opening the door.

Sure enough, I see Moon, powered off and strapped to the operating table in the dark room. I flick on the lights, and sure enough, Moon adjusts to Sun, even though they're powered off.

I pace over and unplug him from... whatever he was plugged into. I open the back panel on his head and put in the code in the small numerical keyboard. 192114.

As I shut the panel, I start to hear parts of him start functioning. I step back, waiting for a moment as I hear more quiet sounds from the animatronic, whirring of fans, small clicks.

At last, Sun finally moves his head a bit, surveying the room, before his eyes finally land on me.

"___!" He shouts in excitement. He moves his arms in attempt to get up, but he's strapped to the table. Only the feeling of the straps pulling him back to the table makes him look down, seeing the straps on him.

"Oh, let me get that!" I say, rushing over. I pull at the belt-like buckles until they loosen, and I pull them off of Sun. It was rather difficult, since I could only use one hand.

"Oh, stars! Is your hand broken? Did Moon do that?" He asks, jumping off the table and kneeling down to me, gently caressing my injured hand.

"I'm not sure if it's broken or not. It could've just gotten twisted or something, like an ankle. I'm sure it's fine, though. It'll heal." I decide to not acknowledge the 'Did Moon do that' question.

"Gasp! I have an idea!" Sun says. He skips over to a desk and grabs a few pens from a cup on the desk. Then he rushes back and sets the pens down on the table. "Doodle time!" He says, grabbing one of the pens and clicking it. "Uh, i can draw on the cast, right?" He asks me.

"Go for it! I don't mind!" I sit on the table Sun was strapped to, and he begins doodling with the pen. I watch him draw curiously. I've always been interested in art, even though I'm not confident in my ability to draw. I watch him doodle, his quick but smooth sketching, his pen gliding across the surface.

When he finishes, I turn my arm so I can see it. It's a doodle of two people hugging. It looks odd, as if it was made by AI. Can't complain, as I assume it is.

"Sorry if it looks weird! I can only draw based on what I've seen before. Not many of the kids draw people hugging, but I really wanted to draw that!" Sun says, embarrassed.

"It looks great! Better than what I can do!" I say, smiling down at the drawing.

"Don't downplay yourself!" Sun says, lifting up my face so we make eye contact, his hands cupping my cheeks. "Let's go to the daycare and finger paint!"

"I don't think so," we hear from the doorway. We turn around and see a tall male mechanic, almost the height of Sun. "Something is wrong with Moon, and we need to figure out what's wrong and how to fix it. Until then, we need to keep Sun in here until we can get rid of whatever is making Moon so violent."

"Pleeeaaasseee?" Sun begs, but the mechanic doesn't change his mind.

"Don't worry, Sun! I'll take care of the kids. You don't need to worry about a thing!" I tell him. Then, without warning, he gives me a big hug. I'm shocked at first, but after a moment, I hug him back, comforted in the embrace.

"Alright, break it up, you two. The building is going to open in thirty, and we need ___ at the daycare." The mechanic steps aside so I'm able to leave the room.

Hesitantly, I let go and I stand up. "I guess I'll see you at closing, then," I tell Sun. I walk over to the doorway, and I turn around and I see Sun wave at me while the Mechanic was opening the back panel. I wave back, smiling, before the mechanic puts in Sun's code. Sun becomes lifeless, his body becoming a rag doll, and he's laid back down on the table and strapped down onto it.
