The school week passed by quicky and was fairly uneventful and it was already the first weekend he would experience in this timeline. Other than trying his best in lessons, Harry barely engaged with his peers. He did not want to get involved with Tom Riddle and his nefarious schemes.
One might have thought that Harry would try to thwart Tom or something productive like espionage on the proto-type Death Eaters, etc. But no, Harry did none of that after all why should he. He had other things on his plate.
Though he appeared to be fine, he not only was going through an emotional and existential crisis but also he had to find a way to get his own textbooks so that he did not seem strange. Harry had been able to buy some second-hand books from fellow students with some money he had got from a few bets but he needed to buy just one more textbook. Yes, you read that right, Harry was in the past (possibly trapped there forever) and his deepest worries were regarding books. But you could not justly blame Harry, the situation was not only unplanned but overwhelming and he had just not gotten over it yet.
Harry had managed to win yet another bet, it was the largest sum of money he had seen since he time travelled to the past. He would finally be able to buy that last book and then he'd still have money left over, enough that if he converted it to muggle money he could have just about enough food for 2 months if he tried to stretch it and that was if he bought taxi from King's Cross Station to somewhere close to the Leaky Cauldron and another taxi back. As much as he wanted to avoid it he had to face the fact that here in this time he had no-one to return to and he would likely never see his friends again.
Harry shook his head of those thoughts labelling them as 'unproductive'. He was currently busy trying to get to the meeting spot that a fellow Slytherin had chosen so that he could buy the final book off him. Since they were meeting past curfew Harry was using the invisibility cloak, he had come up with a plan on entering an empty classroom near to the meeting spot and removing the cloak before the other student came. Harry had carried out the plan up to the part of entering a class room and removing the cloak and stuffing it into a pocket when he realized he was not the only one in the room.
Turning to the direction of the stares Harry came face to face with Tom, as soon as he had recovered from the shock Harry rushed out of the empty classroom and to the meeting spot. The other Slytherin boy was already there with the book and silently greeted Harry asking him if he brought the money. Harry showed the boy 7 Galleons which was the current price for a new version of the book. Harry did some research and knew that the version of the book the other student was trying to sell him had likely been one that was originally bought for 3 Gallons so he tried to persuade the student to sell him the book for 2 Gallons and finally getting the book for 5 gallons (Cheaper than that version of the book was at his time so Harry was satisfied).
On his way back to the common room Harry came by the room where he accidentally met Tom, and he was suddenly dragged inside. Tom was glaring at Harry with what Harry would call 'killing intent' and Harry sure hoped it was not literally so. After all this guy had indirectly killed Myrtle and had directly killed his muggle relatives in the 'future'. But this Tom had yet to do any of that, thought Harry as he tried to reason against himself.
Harry cleared his mind and stared back at Riddle with a blank face. Why was Riddle angry again? The cloak was likely the reason. Harry wrenched his hand out of Riddle's grip, put on the cloak and left for the common rooms. As he knew of Tom's influence on the Slytherins, Harry put his strongest protection spells on his possession before he fell asleep in the common room after reading for a while.
