Chapter 35

SHE watched as his body moved rhythmically with the other members as they all sang their parts in their song, Miroh. Her lips curved into a genuine smile, and he tried his best to not smile back to seem professional.

She put a hand close to her chest, where her heart was, to listen to her heartbeats that seemed to be louder than the music that was playing. Her cheeks turned to a light pink shade, knowing that she was about to devour those pair of soft, plump lips once they both got home.

Once the performance came to an end, the members did their ending poses and flashed their handsome faces to the camera that was filming from a nearby corner. Hyunjin glanced at his wife, who was soundlessly clapping for him with a big, proud smile on her face.

The sight grasped at his throat for a moment, and his heart melted. Trying to maintain professionalism, he tore his sight away from hers for a brief second before his heart urged him to look once again. And despite not showing her or anyone else a smile like he was expected to, his insides erupted with butterflies and his legs turned into jelly.

At that moment, Mal felt her phone vibrating in her pocket.

She hesitantly pulled it out of her wide-legged pants just as the members made their way out of the stage, knowing that if she checked the notification fast enough, she could go backstage to congratulate the members on their fabulous performance, and maybe give her husband one of their famous make-out sessions.

"Hey, it's me, come outside!" Her brother typed.

Her breath stumbled to a halt and was caught in her throat from how enthusiastic she had turned.

She knew that she hasn't seen her brother in a rather long time.

"Come inside then, tell them you're Hyunjin's brother-in-law," she typed back, her heart beating faster in her chest. She knew that Hyunjin had only met Rajwan once or twice since he got married to her, so it would've been a nice chance for the two to know each other.

Wouldn't it?

Her brother was friendly too, so it was a bonus.

"I can't, I have somewhere to go soon. Please, just come out now so I can see you before I leave."

She sighed, then made her way out of the stage, towards the nearest exit.

Despite the tight, suffocating feeling in her chest that she couldn't shake away.

. . .

Reaching the final exit of the building, she pushed the door open and was met by the warm air hitting her face. It was the middle of May, after all.

She walked through the parking lot and glanced around the empty space, expecting to see her brother standing with a broad smile somewhere close.

But she didn't see anyone.

Not as far as she could see, anyway.

"Hey, where are you?" She typed, slightly frustrated and disappointed. "I need to go back and see Hyunjin after the performance."

It took a moment for the bubble and the three dots to pop up, telling her that her brother was typing back.

The anxious moments made sweat pour down her forehead. Her legs continued to fidget and her hands were twitching in anticipation. All she wanted at that moment was to go back to the building and see her husband to support him after the marvelous performance he had just done with the members.

"That's it!" She typed once again, visibly frustrated. "I'm going back inside!"

The bubble disappeared for a few moments, and was back before she knew it. The three dots inside the bubble jumped up and down as her brother typed away something.

She gulped and waited in anticipation, deciding to give him one last shot before she went back inside to see her husband.

The message popped up below hers on the screen, and it took her a long while to absorb the three, seemingly terrifying words. She gulped and glanced at her feet, then back at her screen once again.

"Look behind you," the message read.

Slowly, she turned around, her heart pounding loudly in her chest. And to her horror, she spotted someone standing at a few feet from her, a wide, creepy smile formed over their face.

And it wasn't Rajwan.

She gulped and took a step back, eyeing the person's appearance.

Short, chocolate brown hair. Piercing brown eyes. A slim, muscular figure.

And in his hands were her brother's latest iPhone, the one he bought only six months before.

"W-What are you doing here?"

As soon as she glanced at his other hand, her heart dropped to her stomach in shock and despair and she took a few steps back, tears already filling her eyes.

It was a knife.

"S-Saeed?"

His lips curved into an obnoxious smirk. He stepped closer towards the girl, which resulted her to take quick steps backwards.

"What are you doing?!" She yelled.

He let out a dark, menacing laugh.

And before she could make a run for it, he hurried towards her in quick, large steps.

And raised his hand to stab the sharp knife in her chest.
