It is April 30, 2270, and Karissa Elizabeth Ann Howard is only 14 years old when she boards The USS Republic in San Francisco, California with 499 other young war orphans.

Destination is either Star-Base 10 or 12 and all the war orphans are a part of a program fashioned after children immigration programs.

After Post-World War III Planet Earth is food is rationed by food coupons for just the immediate family and so the Stantons place their niece, Lady Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell in the program created by the United Federation of Planets.

Captain Janeway tells her young passengers that it will take them four and half years to reach the new destination with one stop-over to Talos IV to pick up passengers and they reach Star Base 10 on January 31, and they won't orbit around Star-Base 12 until April 30 or May 1, 2274.

All the younger passengers are between the ages of 13 and 17 years old and fertile and are capable of having children free from the horrid side effects of radiation poisoning.

According to Colonel Phillip Green in the year of 2156 ordered the euthanasia of millions of Humans afflicted with radiation poisoning from World War III in order to prevent their damaged genes from being passed on to future generation, but Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell was born in 2255, and it was 99 years before she was born.

So, the 499 other young war orphans along Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell were free from the long term side effects of radiation sickness.

The one reason why they were tested is so they could recreate a whole new generation of children that would be free from radiation sickness and its side effects.

Finally in 2272, The USS Republic orbits around Talos IV and they beam up only one passenger, Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley who had come from burying his family from being executed by Kudos, as Talos IV was experiencing a food shortage and with that came from Kudos.

The order of those would receive the remaining food supply and those would be executed and the ones to be executed weren't from the elite and three on the list to be executed were Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley's father, mother and sister.

When Lt Kevin Thomas Riley was beamed to take him back to Star-Base 12 to return to Star-Fleet Academy. He was a bitter young man and full of wage until one day he decided to go into the garden on board the USS Republic and also in the garden was sitting 17 years old Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell reading her novel.

Lt Kevin Thomas Riley when he walked in didn't see her at first, but something made him around and he saw her sitting there and he looked at her " Beg your pardon Miss. I didn't see you sitting here."

"I am Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley tells Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell.

Karissa looks at up from her novel " I am Karissa." Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell tells him " I am headed for Star-Base 12 from Post World War Planet Earth III."

Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley looks at Karissa " I am headed back to Star-Base 12 to return to Star-Fleet Academy." Kevin tells her.

"I am being relocated to Star-Base 12 under the United Federation of Planet relocation program." Karissa explains.

"I lost my family to a sorry bastard named Kudos who was the governor of Talos IV." Kevin tells Karissa.

"I lost my family to radiation sickness." Karissa explains.

"I am the sole survivor and my relatives couldn't feed anymore with food being rationed. I have been on the Starship since 2270." Karissa explains.

"We still have two years to go before we orbit around Star-Base 12, but meanwhile why don't we be friends." Kevin asks.
