Meg lay sprawled on her bed, surrounded by piles of books. "Stupid OWLs." She sighed, pushing them aside so she could get out of bed. She pulled out her trunk and a pulled on her uniform.

"Morning." Lily yawned, sitting up in bed, "How many books did you get yesterday?"

"Too many." Meg said, opening her satchel and stuffing as many books as possible into it.

The girls that roomed with Megara Black comprised of Lily Evans, Marlene McKinnon, Alice Fortescue and Laurel Emerson. In spite of all Lily's attempts to make their room  look respectable, it failed. Meg and Laurie always had multitudes of books surrounding their beds and clothes draped across their headboards. Alice had picture of her and Frank Longbottom, her boyfriend, pinned to the walls and unfinished homework spread across her desk. Marlene's bed was never made, resulting in Lily getting thoroughly pissed and remaking her bed as often as she breathed. Lily had the tidiest corner, her bed always made, books neatly tucked away on her bedside table, her clothes neatly folded. But nevertheless, they were some of the best of friends and always hung out together.

"Where's my tie?" Laurie was about to leave the room with the others when she felt her neck and found nothing was choking her. "Here." Lily passed her her tie. She was always mothering everyone.

The girls hurried down to breakfast, hoping to get some revision in before going to class. Meg sat opposite Remus and beside Sirius, "What happened to your face?" Lily asked him. There was a large scar down the side of Remus's left cheek.

"Nothing." He said quickly, moving his book closer to his face and taking a long gulp of orange juice. He started to choke and James gave him a thump on the back, "Thanks."

-

"What're you staring at, Black?" Laurie looked at Sirius, looking very pissed.

"You." He smirked. She gagged and turned back to her Transfiguration book. Meg threw a note to him. He unfolded it and read it,

Nice try, but next time, flirt with her when McGonagall's not looking.

Sirius looked up, and sure enough Minerva McGonagall was staring daggers at him. "Minnie," He grinned, "Why the long face?"

"Detention, Mr Black, for misbehavior." She said, not breaking her stare, "And detention for you, Miss Black, for passing notes." Meg rolled her eyes and carried on trying to make her fork into a parrot.

-

"Fancy meeting you here." Sirius wore a smug expression as he met his sister in font of McGonagall's office. "Don't play dumb, you twat." She huffed, "You got me into this mess and now I won't finish my bloody astronomy essay with Remus."

"Good," McGonagall opened her door and shoved a mop into each of their hands, "You've got cleaning duty in the dungeons, someone blew something up in there, no magic." And she shut the door behind her.

"With Remus, hmm?" He smirked, "You sure there was nothing else you were doing with him?"

Meg blushed furiously, "SIRIUS, WHAT IN MERLIN'S ARSEHOLE DO YOU THINK WE WERE DOING??"

"Calm down, Meg, keep your hair on." Sirius smiled playfully, "As your older brother, I have a right to know."

"Firstly, you're only older than me by a minute and," She said, "secondly, since when did I have to give you an insight into my whole love life situation?" Sirius rolled his eyes and began to mop the floor halfheartedly.

They cleaned in complete silence for the entirety of their detention until something crossed Meg's mind,

"Why'd you like Laurie?" She called from the other side of the room. He shrugged, "She's pretty, smart, kind-" He started to count them off on his fingers.

"But why do you go off snogging the face off of other girls when you like her?"

"Dunno," He said, "A pastime, I suppose." Meg chuckled to herself and crossed the room, "You're so stupid, that's only gonna make her not want to go out with you." He furrowed his brow and looked up at her, "Then what do you think I should do?"

"Stop asking her out randomly," She sat down at one of the tables, "and definitely don't go kissing other girls."

"OK, I'll try that. Thanks." She smiled, "C'mon lets go." She put an arm around his shoulders and pulled him along, conversing about their days. They got on pretty well for being brother and sister, much to the surprise of many. If their friends weren't there anymore, they always knew they would have each other. It was how they survived living at 12 Grimmauld Place.
