"Wonderful." Meg heard someone smack their lips. She opened her eyes a crack. She was on the sofa of the common room, the fire crackling, casting long shadows across the room.
"Ha, Checkmate!" Someone cried joyfully. She sat up slowly and looked around. Her sight was unfocused but she could make out two boys on the floor. One cross legged and the other sprawled across the floor.
"Stop being such a sore loser, Sirius." She heard another voice call, and a pillow was thrown to the head on the sprawled boy. Meg rubbed her head and got up, only to topple backwards into the sofa.
"How much firewhisky did she have last night?" A new voice came, it was much closer to her
"Same amount as me, I suppose." A girl's voice said.
"So a shit ton?" The cross legged boy suggested.
"Mhm. Easily half a bottle."
Her vision became clear and looked around. The two boys on the floor were James and Sirius, Laurie was lying in front of the fire, Lily, Felicity and Faith were all snuggled up together on the sofa to her right, Claire was sleeping awkwardly on an arm chair, snoring loudly, Laura and Marlene were having an intense game of exploding snap which Alice was refereeing, Peter was quietly munching on a chocolate frog and Remus was sat at the opposite end of the sofa she was sat on. It was madness, and that's what she loved about it.
"Meg? Are you alright?" Remus suddenly took notice of her consciousness.
"Yeah. Yeah. What happened?" Meg rested her head on his arm, she couldn't quite move much.
"You passed out into Remus's arms." Lily smirked. Meg looked up at Remus, who in turn, went red. She too blushed a bit, but didn't move away. "I'm so sorry I cut Girl's Night short." She apologized.
"Don't worry," Laurie said, turning to the conversation, "On the other hand, Remus seemed to quite enjoy carrying you, didn't you?"
Remus hid his face at her remark.
"I'm sorry but, Laurel Emerson, can we please talk about that kiss." Meg directed the attention towards her bestfriend.
"No we cannot." She huffed. Felicity laughed, "Yes we can, you did something to Sirius."
Sirius still wore the dreamy expression from earlier on. He simply stared up at the ceiling, ignoring the others. Laurie sighed and rolled over so she didn't have to look at the others. Meg stole a glance up at the ticking grandfather clock. It was midnight.
"Why did you guys come downstairs then?" Meg asked.
Alice shrugged, "Got a bit bored without you, thought we could try and make Laurie kiss Sirius again."
Laurie scowled at her as everyone began to laugh. Meg smiled to herself as everyone resumed what they were doing. She was really lucky to have them. All of them. They were her first real family and they were the best family anyone could ask for...
