Meg sat up and yawned, sliding her feet into her slippers and getting up slowly.

"Where the fuck is everyone?" She squinted and it seemed that everyone had left her dorm. She traipsed over to the toilet and brushed her teeth before leaving her room. She was about half way downstairs when she came to her senses.

"What day is it?" She asked. All heads turned to her.

"Christmas, dipshit." Laurie called.

Meg's eyes widened with realization and she sprinted down the stairs straight into Remus's arms, "Merry Christmas, Moony." She smiled. "Merry Christmas, Cally." He laughed.

"And he's the one you hug first?" Sirius asked, tapping his foot angrily. Everyone laughed as the two blushed. "Merry Christmas, Sirius Arsehole Black." She said, ruffling up his hair and hugging James who was beside her. Sirius gave her a dirty look and returned to hanging Christmas decorations on the tree. Meg hugged each of her friends happily before standing back to take in the room. It smelt strongly of peppermint, chocolate and fresh books for a reason she couldn't put her finger on. Then she spotted a small glass beneath the Christmas tree that was bubbling viciously,

"What's that?" She asked.

"Amortentia," James smiled proudly, "Nicked it from Slughorn."

"I'm guessing it was to prove to Lily that you two were made for each other." Meg wiggled her eyebrows at the red haired girl standing next to her. James winked, "You know it."

Meg laughed. All of a sudden, the sound of the portrait hole opening became clear. They all dropped their things and turned to find McGonagall in her tartan dressing robe stood before them.

"Merry Christmas," She smiled, "I see you all are up." They all nodded.

"I have a few things to say to you lot before the Christmas feast," She turned stern quite quickly, "No pranks that'll burn down half the school again, we don't want a repeat of last year now, please be on time and wear your best clothes, Dumbledore only expects the best, oh and finally, James take that Amortentia back to Slughorn immediately, he's been looking all over for it."

James hung his head, ashamed of being caught, as they all laughed. As the others resumed their work, McGonagall tapped Meg on the shoulder,

"Megara, dear," She said quietly, dipping a hand into a pocket of her dressing gown and producing a wax-sealed envelope baring something Meg had dreaded, "This is for you, I got it this morning."

Meg had hoped to never set eyes on the Black family crest for the rest of her life, and yet here it was, sealing an envelope addressed to her.

"I don't think it wise to open it here," McGonagall said, "Maybe open it later, in the evening, in case it ruin your day."

Meg nodded in agreement and pocketed the letter, thanking the professor. The older woman smiled to her, "Whatever it says, dear, don't worry." And with that she left the common room.

-

"Hurry up, you lot, I'm hungry!" Peter howled up the stairs that lead to girl's dorms.

"We're coming!" Meg shouted down, hurriedly trying to do up the clasp of her necklace. She felt another pair of hand brush against her neck, doing the clasp for her.

"Thanks, Laurie." She smiled, getting up and inspecting herself in the mirror for the 500th time.

"You look fine, Meg," Laurie said, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder, "And besides, Remus'll love it." She added with a wink. Meg smiled.

"Now I'm going down, I'm hungry, who's coming?" And with that, the others left, trailing behind Laurie, leaving Meg alone. She peeked a head down to the common room and saw that no one was there.

"I thought at least Moony would wait for me." She sighed, returning back to her room.

"Why Moony though?" Meg jumped backwards into someone. She breathed heavily, a hand clutching her heart, "Moony, you scared the living shit out of me." Remus apologized and gave her hug.

"Firstly, you look really beautiful," He beamed, a twinkle in his eyes, "And secondly, your back is undone."

"Bitches," Meg muttered, "Um, do you mind doing it for me?" He nodded and lifted her hair so that he could do up the zip. She felt his fingers brush against her neck, sending a shiver down her spine. She turned back quickly, crashing into his chest. Remus pushed her her hair back behind her shoulder, admiring her beauty for a moment.

"Come on Remus, they're gonna think we died." She laughed, taking his hand and practically dragging him downstairs. So close, yet so far, Remus thought to himself, a dazed look crossing his face

"How did you even get up here?" Meg asked him as they stopped by the stairs. "A handy spell James loves to use." He smiled, hovering a foot over the stairwell, "Shall we?"

Meg gripped his hand tighter, doing as Remus did, "I didn't know Remus Lupin was a rebel."

"Me neither." And they both slid down the stairs turned slide.
