Several days later...

I woke suddenly, bolting upright in bed, looking around the room. I saw James asleep next to me, breathing softly with a slight snore. Checking my surroundings, I saw something in the corner. Frowning, I peered a little closer, and saw vaguely what looked like a figure. The terror set in when I noticed what seemed like a pair of glowing red, stormy, swirling eyes glaring back at me. My mouth went dry and my heart pounded staring at whatever it was. But when I blinked and opened my eyes, it was gone. Slowly, so as not to wake my husband, I slipped out of bed and went out of the room, slipping a pair of jeans on, and a shirt, then my combat boots. After lacing them up, I grabbed a jacket and one of my favourite tactical knives from a shelf in the kitchen. Then, I walked out of the door.

I prowled the streets, keeping guard. Someone, or something, was watching me. A whoosh sounded from behind me, and I whirled around. There was nothing. When I turned back, to my horror, I saw a menacing face, and a sickening smile, greet my own. Then the creature, whatever it was, kicked me into a stone wall. I groaned, trying to sit up, but then the creature sped over to me - some kind of super speed, I thought. The creature suddenly dived in, a sharp sting of fangs sinking into my neck, and I let out a scream as the creature drank me nearly dry. When the creature had done its dirty work, it stood. It was a female, and I swore the resemblance couldn't have been any less obvious if I'd looked in a mirror.

'You're -' I gasped, but I could barely form words at the hazy feeling overcoming my senses.

'I'm you? Yeah, I know. Buckle up, Adelaide Barnes. There's gonna be hell to pay.' And with that, the creature, or should I say, the other me, super sped into the night. The hazy feeling continued to overtake my senses, and placing my hand to my neck, I faintly saw the blood from the fang marks, only for me to blink slowly and then promptly pass out, darkness overtaking me.

My last thought was:

There's another me.
