Chapter 4

The first few months of school went well. I had become more comfortable in my new school and made some new friends. Eddie and I had gotten really close. We never spoke about the kiss that almost happened. We kind of just pretended that it didn't. Safe to say Eddie had become the closest thing to a best friend I had in Hawkins. We did everything together. We would go to the movies and throw popcorn at all the couples who were making out, and we were almost kicked out a couple of times. We went to what was now our favorite spot to grab a pizza. Eddie and I got tattoos. We hung out at the arcade and the mall. We both HATED the mall but it was something to do on Saturdays when we were really bored. While both his uncle and my dad were at work all night and we were alone, we'd hang out in my room, blast AC/DC or Iron Maiden, light up some joints and head bang to the music or dance around. Those nights were probably my favorite. We were two kids who were alone most of the time and I'm glad Eddie and I had each other. Other weekends were for band practice, which I was the only girl allowed to be present for. I think they didn't mind me being there because I brought the snacks. The nights where we really had nothing to do, either Eddie and I would stay in and have movie marathons or we'd all go to skull rock, start a fire and drink until we all couldn't walk straight or puked our entire insides out. I had never been "one of the boys" before. All of my friends back home were girls. Any guy I was somewhat friendly with ended up being a sexual hookup. It was something to get used to being the only girl in a group of guys but I had fun with them. They weren't like other guys I was used to being around, they didn't care about being cool or fitting in. They did things they enjoyed that made them happy and they didn't care what anyone else thought.
