Chapter 3
Hawkins - 1986
It's been two years since I've been back to Hawkins. Everything is still the same.
My dad doesn't know I'm back home yet. We haven't exactly spoken since I up and left two years ago.
My last night in Hawkins I left without even a goodbye. All I left behind was a note. A note telling him I was leaving, going back to California.
He had written me a few times while I was in Los Angeles but I never wrote back. I didn't know what to say.
I pulled into the trailer park and saw that my father's car was gone. He must be working, but I figured just in case I'd try anyway. I got out of my car and walked over to the front door. My stomach was in knots. What would I say?
I got to the front door and knocked. No answer. I figured he was gone and I'd try him later. I turned to leave.
"Hi?" I heard a girl say as she opened the door.
"Hi. I'm Rebecca. I'm looking for Robert Cline. Is he home?" I asked.
She was about 14 or 15 years old. Pretty. Red hair and blue eyes.
"No one by that name lives here." She replied.
"Oh. Okay. I'm sorry you wouldn't by any chance know where he is now would you?" I asked her.
She shrugged. "I wouldn't know. The place was empty when we moved in."
